Is Dolomite Silver the best color for masking dirt and dust?

Full disclosure: My principal reason for choosing Dolomite Silver was the assumption that it would be the best colour for masking dirt, dust, grime, tree sap and bird droppings. I also succumbed to the idea of getting a ceramic coating pre-delivery (which seems perfectly OK, but I do wonder whether it was worth doing).

14 months on, 8,000 miles later–in a relatively wet and windy climate, with gritted and salted roads in the winter; surrounded by deciduous trees and greedy pigeons–my car has been washed only four times, and the bodywork has never looked particularly grubby or dull.

I do have a rear windscreen wiper (which is great); and in the winter months I regularly wipe the car's sensors, lights and plates–and do ad hoc bird dropping removal.

I love some of the other colors available, but don't regret getting the 'classic' but possibly a bit boring Dolomite Silver. I love it ... but so do the wood pigeons. Could received wisdom be correct, and is metallic silver the best colour for masking dirt and dust?

I would say silver is definitely the best colour out there.*
Would rate white as the 2nd best and then light colours.
Dark colours are the worst with black being the worst, non metallic black takes the crown as worst possible.
For the interior it is the opposite, black is best, then dark colours, then light colours, white is the worst.
*In Audi land I would have to give it to Nardo as it's my favourite colour.

All personal preference. My view is that Chalk/Crayon is the best exterior hiding exterior dirt and looks very premium in bright sun. I do not agree with Black interior, which to me is the worst, the best one to me again is the Chalk/Crayon Black dual tone that gives a nice balance. As far as Dolomite silver, sorry to say, this is a very old and tired color in the Macan lineup for many years, so even birds do not find it premium any more.

You will want to clean bird droppings promptly as those can etch paint. I've found the lighter silver colors better hiding everyday dirt. The Macan Ice Grey has been very good, but there are darker trim areas that shows dirt pretty quick.

A quality ceramic coating is ALWAYS a great idea - the downside is the cost that most vendors ask to provide it. There is an alternative - do it yourself. It isn't that difficult - especially on a new vehicle since the paint prep steps should be minimized. You'll likely spend close to a day doing it but the upside is you can save literally thousands of dollars.

Masks dirt very well.

I keep my windows clean in between washes and might even wipe down the wheels on occasion...

I zip her through a brushless car wash in between my hand washing sessions

I am pleased with my color selection.

No intent to upset you. This is a Dolomite Turbo at my dealer and sure looks great for anyone set on a classic Silver.
