Newbie questions, how do I turn on the heated wing mirrors & heated front windscreen?

I assume they come on by pressing the front and rear de-mister buttons, is there a separate indicator that they are on?

Is there a way of turning on the heated front windscreen without turning on the front blowers at the same time?

How do I turn them on via the App?

heated front windscreen, only the demist button turns it on. Would be handy to have a switch, but using the remote heating is also a good option.

Mirrors, rear window button. as per the manual.

I've read here that the North American heated windscreen only activates in so called Max defrost mode (which may be what you guys call demist). You can turn down the blower speed.

Unfortunately the description from the configurator is misleading, the heated windshield does not provide draft-free removal of condensation since you cannot turn it on by itself, the fans are also going to be on and running on high. That was a big disappointment.

My salesman advised against paying for the heated windscreen as with pre-heating the screen would be clear when departing and kept clear with the blower. He said, if your getting the heated screen to reduce the effect on range it will be absolutely minimal as the blower will need to be on anyway. Also, the UK milder winters don’t really warrant it.
At least you can control whether the mirrors are being heated - my Range Rover decided whether they should be heated - I turned on the rear screen and the car decided if it was cold enough to heat the mirrors with no way to override.

I don't think thats the use case heated windshields are intended as, even on an ICE, remote start with heater/defrost running does that without extra expense.

I opted for it, but if I had known the configurator was wrong I probably wouldn't have.

Most of us use the heated windshield to prevent ice/snow build up as we drive instead of the blower blasting and raised temperatures method. The standard blasting blower defroster with temperatures set high is often not effective, although I dunno about the Macan. I also use it for clearing interior condensation and mist, which can occur on a cold windshield.

To use the Macan heated windshield I turn max defrost on then move my hand over a bit and turn the blower down. A compromise but seems to work pretty close to the configurator description.

Preheating is only effective if you know beforehand that it's needed. I've gotten back to my car after dinner and found the windows completely fogged up, something that would have taken a couple of minutes in my old ICE car to get rid of (even with a heat exchanger integrated into the exhaust manifold, so the car can produce heat almost as soon as the engine is started).

With the heated windshield, the windshield was cleared in seconds, and the side windows took maybe a minute.

I agree it's misleading to sell it as draught-free and am in the process of complaining higher up in Porsche about this.

The idea being if you forget to precondition, maybe you don't know there has been a frost then you have to sit in the car with the blowers on max - ok it works but it's not a serene experience like you get in the lower rungs of the VW group.

To add to this, the temperature range of when the heated screen operates is flawed. It will only turn on when the ambient temp is 7°C or less. I have had scenarios where the inside of the screen is fogged up at 8°C and the blowers take several minutes to come up to temperature and clear it - something the heated screen would clear much faster, but your paid option is disabled over an arbitrary rule like that.

I'm hoping Porsche can offer some good will proportional to the value of the heated screen option, or get the dev team to pull their finger out and operate the windscreen with the rear defrost/mirrors button! Very simple/easy update.

Using the Max Defrost button on the climate control panel.
Thanks!

There's a snowflake âť„ that pops up on the dashboard at times. Does this indicate it's available (below 7c)? Or just "it's cold"

I don’t have a heated windscreen but noticed that snowflake today for the first time. I think it was below 7c.

Did you ever hear back from Porsche?
The new cars still advertise draft free heated windshield.

I've also been annoyed with the heated mirrors, they only work when the rear defroster is on but the read defroster shuts off automatically after a few minutes.
