You are absolutely right about the marginal gains you may get between a 150 and a 270 kW charging session and it is also highly variable considering outside and battery temperatures…..

I may have understood it wrong but I once read that a Supercharger at 400V may be as low as 50 kW. That makes a big difference….. It also seems debatable that the new V4 superchargers will be able to charge at 800V. And up here, we will be that las t to see these one in f=unction and there is still no Superchargers equipped with the Magic Dock.

The CCS1 infrastructure here in Québec is overwhelming. Good speeds, good locations, good service and stations are well-maintained: https://lecircuitelectrique.com/en/

I have a Tesla tap for Tesla Destination chargers but only used it 2-3 times in the 4 years I have owned my Taycan (Macan Turbo actually crossing the Atlantic sea on the SFL Composer). I am also considering buying an A2Z CCS1 to NACS, especially if I’ll go down south of the border…..

But I will not shy away from the NACS transition. I hear Porsche maybe transitioning in 2026. I read that Le Circuit Électrique is also installing new charging stations with NACS connectors. But as of now, I will receive a Macan Turbo equipped with a CCS1 connector…. And I will have fun with it!

ps: beside Le circuit Électrique and all its partners, we also have your cousin Electrify Canada with decent coverage in western and eastern Canada….

even if plan to never ever ever use Tesla Superchargers - J-1772/CCS1 vehicles will benefit from a NACS adapter - because Electrify America just opened their first NACS/J-3400 DCFast charging stations…

https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...the-physcial-design.16080/page-48#post-392782

so you should have a NACS/J-3400 adapter to use NACS/J-3400 based fast chargers - the future _IS_ NACS/J-3400 you'll need a DCFast NACS adapter for your Taycan/Macan…

bump - given recent developments here is a simplified?? North American adapter guide:

Macan EV & Taycan EV (J-1772/CCS1 native vehicle)
MY-2026 Cayenne EV (NACS native)
for home EVSE's - I recommend the following:
  • Tesla Universal Wall Charger - J-1772 & NACS with slick built-in adapter
  • ChargePoint flex - they sell J-1772 and NACS cables - you can purchase either cable and it's a DIY swap
  • of simply get the correct adatper listed above and have it "live" in your garage
I recommend two "L1/L2 J-1772/NACS slow charging adapters" - one to live at home in the garage so it's always there...and one that lives in the car so you always have it with you (no need for two fast charging adatper unless you have a fast charger at home - then I want to visit you!!!)

*-if you have the Tesla Universal wall charger - that is your 2nd L1/L2 adapter ;-)

Going to grab one of those Lectron J1772 to Tesla (NACS) adapters in case any "friends with Teslas" stop by my house and need a top off...

_ALL_ Tesla's are delivered with J-1772 adapters - but you have to purchase a CCS1 adapter…

any Tesla owner will most likely have a J-1772 adapter in the vehicle…

it's still nice to have one on hand, but honestly Tesla has always provided this with the vehicle (so does Hyundai by the way, now they are shipping NACS vehicles)

Sept 2025 - based on access to Superchargers we now know that Lectron is the preferred choice…

either the Porsche adapter (a rebranded Lectron) or the Lectron Unit are the top choices

https://ev-lectron.com/products/lec...0a-1-000v-compatible-with-tesla-superchargers

and while you're at it just throw the NACS to J-1772 Lectron adapter in the cart also and be done with it…

https://ev-lectron.com/products/lectron-tesla-to-j1772-ev-adapter-250v-80-amp

these two adapters and you're good to go for access to all possible chargers in North America while away from home.

No longer the case. My wife’s 2019 Tesla Model X came with level 2 charger and a J-1772 adapter. When we traded for a new 2025 Tesla Model X those items were no longer provided. You had to buy them separately. Fortunately, we just kept the old ones since Tesla didn’t require them for the trade in. On the other hand, we were able to transfer the full self driving package and the free lifetime DC charging.
