I never use it, and I have to turn it off every time in sport mode (kind of annoying). I find quite power quite rewarding. For me, my next one will definitely NOT have that.
Turn it off, then hit the checkmark in the lower right corner to save the settings for Sport Mode.

I actually like it. In the city I always have it turned on, but as soon as I hit the highway or motorway, I switch it off. I would enjoy the fake V8 sound that the new Cayenne makes in Sport Plus mode, though.

I thought I need it to have a more emotional ride. But believe me, you do not need it. Especially as you always have to switch to Sport or Sport plus mode to enable it.
You can enable or disable it in the drive mode panel - hit the checkbox to include sound in the mode. I don't think it works in Normal though. Check with your dealer.

You can switch it on in normal on mine (MY26)

I have not seen anyone confirm this -

Does the car make louder noise *outside* with the electric sport sound option, but *not* turned on?

The reason I ask is that every time my wife leaves or goes home, I can hear it inside the house when she’s leaving/coming back from the street. It’s a loud sporty sound. I know it’s not turned on.

I have not heard a car without the option. The loaner we got last year also has the option and it sounded the same.

@outie it could be my bad hearing but I could not detect any difference outside the car with the sound on or off. There was one member who stated that it also adds noise on the outside of the car but I cannot confirm this however the car configurator also explains that it adds sound on the outside as well! According to other forums it should indeed also add sound externally as well and it should come from an additional speaker under the frunk.
I will do another test this afternoon to be sure and let you know.

Yes from my experience of a Taycan GTS (sounds like this when on )

I’d imagine the Macan is no different (my build has it, not yet delivered).

I ordered it to add a bit of emotion at times and add to the visceral experience. Potentially to help plug a gap from ICE alternatives.

The sound in the video is the same one used in the Cayenne E-Hybrid and basically all other Porsche EVs in the current lineup. It’s the legally required sound below 30 km/h.

Whether that sound is also the same as the acceleration sound in the Taycan or Macan when “Electric Sport Sound” is enabled, I’m not 100% sure. Besides having driven a lot of loaners, I can also confirm it from my previous Macan 4. I never had Electric Sport Sound enabled, yet I still had that exact same noise. In fact, that sound was one of the many things that eventually stopped working on my car when the issues started.

The safety sound is a monotone consistent hum, the sport sound from my experience varies in tone and volume. You can hear it in the video but admittedly it’s hard to distinguish

You can turn it on in Normal…

I do this occasionally when I’m in town and would like pedestrians to know I’m there.
