I’m hoping to get your experiences on two climate functions please…

Firstly, is it just my car or does everyone else have to click the climate switches twice for operation? Whenever I want to switch climate on/off, or alter the temperature, I have to click once to engage the system then click again for the action to take place. So basically, I’m having to click twice for any operation relating to the climate control switches. Is this an error or a Porsche usability quirk?

Second, I’m told that I have heated windscreen installed but I have no experience of it working. On previous cars the function was clear and obviously operating when it was switched on - I almost immediately saw the impact. On my Macan, it appears to make no difference whatsoever. Considering Porsche made a mistake by not installing another add-on I ordered, I’m now left wondering whether my heated windscreen also wasn’t installed.

1) Have not noticed, as it's always in auto, will have to check.

2) Don't think I have option codes sticker with the Macan either in a booklet or on the body so the only option would be to visit a dealer run the VIN and see with your own eyes the result on the screen, 4GR is the code for the heated screen if I remember.

I don't have it but I know to turn it on you press the MAX defrost button for the windshield so there is no way of knowing if you have it or not, as its the same button for both functions, blowing air & heating, there is no wire mesh like old cars it's just a silvery film, maybe if you have 2 Macans parked next to each other both with the same spec (both with or without thermally insulated glass) maybe you can tell a difference.

Hested windscreen- AC Max as mentioned but noted that you can. Reduce the fan speed without turning off the heating function.

It will be obvious if the option is present as the front windshield has a copper / purple hue to it (from the film used to heat the screen) when viewedfromthe outside at a little distance from the car..

AC - should be instant single click. Don't switch it off, leaving auto and adjust temp as needed.

It's not the A/C MAX it's the MAX Windshield Defrost button for the heated windscreen.
The rear defrost button does the rear screen & mirrors.

Thanks for all your input, this clarifies.

My switches definitely require two clicks so I’ll mention to the dealer when I get the software update next week.

That is not true, every Macan has the P button but not every Macan has a heated screen (~450 euro option).
There is no button/setting to tell if you have the heated screen.
The center console is the same for all Macans except for the Ventilated seats, if you did not spec those you will be missing the icons to the left & right of the 5 physical switches.
Seat heating is standard.

I think you misread the post - clearly states that P would also operate the heated screen in addition the standard function if it were optioned.

I NEVER have to quick twice. One click does it all...

I was also told that the heated windshield was ordered, 4GR - Heated windshield shows up on the order paper work but I am still unsure whether it is there or not. Searches with VIN # are not conclusive, and even with actual winter, when I drive, I still get an icing windshield......

Did you press the button with the windshield icon on it? This heats the windshield film and also directs air at max temp to it. As I mentioned earlier it is obvious when installed due to the colour of the front windshield when viewed at a distance in daylight.

Example from.Macan ICE attached.

Ever since we 're having an early winter start up here in eastern Canada, I have pressed the button on numerous occasions. Yes, the fans blow at high speed but as I was driving while snowing, I was under the impression that it was not that efficacious at preventing ice formation on the wipers, thus making me doubt of its presence.

Will have a better look at the windshield color in broad daylight.

Merci!

Well, it won't heat your wipers!

It's just a film layer within the front windshield which is heated and nothing more.

Works well in my experience at clearing frosted glass (not inches of snow) but we don't get as severe winters as you likely do.
