charging telephone compartment : the new black hole

I would like to know if I'm the only one who complains about the fact that a 140k car doesn't have any lighting in the smartphone charging compartment. Every time the smartphone gets lost in this black hole... incredible...

Was checking this out on my test drive and I like the location and the fact that it’s cooled. It’s certainly a lot better than the Taycan’s awkward location and clip.

I don’t mind the charging compartment but It would be great if the Macan had a warning that the phone has been left there when exiting the vehicle instead of the useless Goodbye screen.

I agree that it could have used a light but just wait until you put your wallet on the closed charging area door and then accidentally open the charging area door! My wallet lodged into the car and it took me about 30 minutes to get it out. And I was lucky because it came out!

I’d consider a light in the compartment useless. It’s not like I need to see in the small space to find my phone when I take it out.

I also see no need for a light. My complaint is that with my fat fingers it's not easy to get a grip on the phone to retrieve it (and I also second the vote for a warning that you've left the phone when you exit the car).

What are the clips for at the top? Too small to be a pen clip like the one in glove compartment.

Cable clip for non-wireless charging. There’s an opening next to the clip that lets you snake a cable down to where the usb ports are.

i've not had to charge my phone in the car...i keep my sunglasses in there.

I think it's great spot and no need for light. As previously noted, leaving your phone in the charger happens all the time...so ya, the "good-bye screen" should yell at you to don't forget your phone!

The design idea is that you put your phone inside and close the hatch, to enable it to chill the phone without chilling you or the cabin (and to maintain a cool temperature completely around the phone), so I find that a light would be fairly redundant. If there is only your phone that goes in there, and it just sits horizontally on the base of the enclosure, it shouldn't be that hard to locate what's in there.
