The thing I learn from this is that at Porsche they really do not follow the forums, and yes, now days you do not even need to do it via a human ... the fact that they do not pick this up is borderline crazy ...
I do not have proof, but BMW is watching this kind of backlash and fix or add features ... I remember vividly that old iX's would not get the manual pre heating button, which on the form initiated a heated discussion, some month's later boom it was there for the old iX's ... Could have been better communicated, but still ...

On topic, do the Porsches that refuse home AC charging refuse AC Charging at most places or just some?

FB group same issue, probably some are here as well :

I agree. Not having a manual way to start pre-conditioning without having to enter it into the nav system is actually surprisingly dumb. My dealership actually saw this thread 😂 However, I don’t think Porsche headquarters get any of these comments from local dealerships.

  • Year and Model: 2025 Macan 4
  • Your Location: Toronto, Canada
  • Charger at Home: Porsche Mobile Charger
  • Charging Port: Driver Side
  • Timeline: stopped working a week ago
  • Troubleshooting Steps Taken: reset the breaker. It won’t charge. At times it just stays initializing. I have tried clicking on direct charging and it has worked but today that’s not working either. Remains in initializing state. In the past I have tried the passenger plug and it worked but in that specific case the charger port on the driver side was glowing red.
  • Current: have not made a dealer appointment. Will try the passenger port tomorrow.
Update: I just went outside and tried the passenger side port with the same issue.

Next, I unplugged the PMC from the 240v and re-inserted (It had red lights all over). Plugged it back into the 240v and the PMC had green lights with 100% showing. Then plugged into the Macan and this time the light in the port started flashing blue. The app showed the charging was paused. But I was able to now click on “Direct Charging” on the app and it’s charging now. This, hopefully, isn’t the new normal.

Tomorrow I will try my Lightning charger to see if that would work.

After investigating more, i have managed to get the car charging 3 times over the last couple of days. Each time charging was triggered by different method. Seems like they are just random triggers that somehow manage to bug the bug.. First time i manage to trigger it by adding departure time set 20mins ahead. After that no matter how many times i tried this method did not work again. Second time i deleted all departure times via phone, after that the car created a new departure time (inactive) and started charging. Tried many times after - could not repeat it again. Third time - created departure time and toggling Direct charge initiated charging - disabling it stops charging. Could not get this to work anymore.

So there is no reliable method to force the car to charge.

As i have mentioned before, the car charges everywhere else no problem, even with the same chargers. Also, 2 different Macans refuse to charge at my house. All other cars charge at home without issues. Even Porsche 220v slow charger does not work at my house.

I do not and have never used any timers, departures or anything to do with charging settings both in the car and on the 2 different chargers i have.

My guess is that there is some sort of location ban from Porsche, for the few homes that are affected. I cannot think of any other reason why only Macans with the update are affected yet all 3 of them charge everywhere else with no issues. Also, this might explain why the chargers show no errors and i assume the car shows no errors either. My car has been at Porsche service 4 times for this issue, not even once i was given any explanation or reasoning for why this might be happening and what the issue is. They absolutely have 0 clue on what is going on. I was told that i am the only one with this issue in my country

  • Year and Model: 2025 Macan S
  • Your Location: Edmonton Alberta
  • Charger at Home: Emporia Vue Charger / Porsche Mobile Charger / Levor L1 Charger
  • Charging Port: Both
  • Timeline: Started randomly last night
  • Troubleshooting Steps Taken: Tried everything mentioned so far in this thread, but had me monitoring this thread so figured I may have tripped up like others have. It is clearly tied to location somehow, as first Level 2 charger I used this morning worked immediately without an issue. Right prior to it having stopped working I was at an Electrify Canada L3 charger and took it to 70% percent before driving home.
  • Current Status: Not working, will reach out to dealer.

Also hoping someone can share contact information for whom they are speaking with at Porsche NA, as I am hoping we can skip a bit of the noise and start to have a consistent contact to raise the issue.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone taken a loaner (Macan EV) from your dealer and tried charging it to see if it works?

Check post #74

In my case i had 2, one with update and the other without. The one without the update charges with no problems, the one with the update does not. Later the same Macan which had no update was updated, after the update it stopped charging at my house too.

I have since managed to get mine to charge 4 times playing around with departure times, direct charging, deleting departures etc. But it seems like the charging starts randomly, there is no reliable way to start, you just have to try many different ways and repeating them until it just randomly starts charging.

By the way, i can rule out voltage surge or drop as it is very stable at my house and i measure it. Also, my other house which is located in the middle of nowhere has voltage surges and drops which can dip to less than 180v or surge to over 260v on separate phases - the car charges there and during the voltage drops it just stops charging until the voltage normalises and starts up again no problem. So it behaves completely different, as at my primary home it fails to start charging rather than stop/start. Also during voltage drops the wallbox logs this so you can see it in the charger logs. At home there are no logs of any issues as the charging process does not go past the initial "handshake".

This is something I’d recommend everyone on this forum push their dealers to do. They’re obliged to provide a loaner for an issue this significant, It’s really the least they can offer. You’ll save miles on your own car, and you may even be able to charge it as well.

It might be a bit less appealing if you’re in a Turbo, since you’ll probably notice the drop in power, which can be annoying. But for anyone with a 4S or below, I’d strongly recommend it. The dealers are compensated well for every mile driven in the loaner, so you really shouldn’t feel bad about using it like it’s your own.

Also keep in mind that if they say they don’t have a loaner available, that’s often not entirely true! They can usually figure something out if they really want to. When I had issues with my own car (they claimed it was software-related), I was already going back and forth with them quite heavily, and they ended up taking a brand-new Macan 4 with only 26 km on it. That is a car that was specced and originally meant for sale, which they registered as a loaner instead just because of my issue. My point is: there are solutions if you push hard enough.

Personally, I would never drive my own car if it had charging issues they can’t clearly diagnose or prove are resolved. How can they be certain the car won’t suddenly stop DC charging as well?
