For the second time on a ferry I’ve unsuccessfully tried to disable the car alarm due to movement by pushing the lock button twice in a row. Each time the alarm went off anyway when the ferry hit rough seas. I can’t seem to find anything on this in the manual. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

This happened to me as well in Canada. I tried to disable the car alarm to no effect. Had a guy give me the gears over it as well. I ended up sitting in the car watching youtube videos since the ferry ride was short.

Nice to know I’m not crazy. My ferry ride tomorrow is 3 hrs and we’re not allowed to stay in the car. 😩

One thing i was going to try but haven't was just disabling the lock function and leaving the car unlocked with no valuables. Not sure if that would help or not.

On A ferry it is likely triggered by the tilt sensor. According to “Good To Know” it can be turned off -

On the central display, it is also possible to set whether interior surveillance and the tilt sensor are to remain inactive when locking the vehicle:

  1. Electric Macan EV Disabling movement alarm when on a ferry? {filename}
    Settings> CarVehicle locking system> Interior surveillance

Yes I suppose just leaving the car unlocked is a solution. But ours will be filled with stuff, so it would cause quite some stress to leave it like this. No one complained about our alarm going off - I just got warnings from the MyPorsche app

Actually there is an easier way - just tap the lock button on the key fob (or the door handle) twice within two seconds. It will lock the car without the tilt sensor activated.

As the topic starter already wrote, this doesn't work.

Tried your method today and it worked on a rough ferry ride. No signs that the alarm went off during the voyage. When you turn off “interior surveillance “ it tells you that this is only effective until you next unlock the car. Anyway it worked for me although I wish the “tap the lock button twice” worked as that would be much easier. Maybe in a software update? Thanks again for your help

Anecdotally the two-press version does work. Trip out to Nanaimo last month my alarm went off. First time for any vehicle I've taken on that ferry, incidentally. Trip back, using the two-press manoeuvre, no alarm. Didn't control for all variables so who knows, but I'd read the same page in the manual (whilst on Vancouver Island) so that's what I did.

for me 10 crossings since feb this year on the fairly breezy english channel dfds service between newhaven and dieppe (4 hrs each way) in sometimes 50kmh gust weather. big ferry. but still some significant movement. first time we forgot and alarm went off every 30 mins ...since then double tap within 2 secs has done the trick you need to see the flashers respond. if not try again. can say the double tap. it works for us...

From the Owner's manual - same for all Porsches -

Electric Macan EV Disabling movement alarm when on a ferry? {filename}
I specifically looked for this hazard warning light sequence after pushing twice. It didn’t appear so I assumed this is not working on the Macan
