I had a message in the car today saying my key battery was low. I've changed it no prob. But I've had the car 6 months, keep the key in a tin a long way from the car. I've never known a key battery to deplete so quickly. They have lasted over 2 years in other cars.

Are others changing their key battery after only 6 months ? Please no responses about if we had a digital key ........ !

I bet your 2nd key's battery is still going strong so probably there lies your answer.

Yes, both of my key batteries discharged at the same time also within 6 months and that never happened to me before. My keys were kept in a faraday bag and now I think they may have been responsible for that happening. Not sure. But I’m not using them any longer. And keep the keys far away from the car.

I keep one key in a Faraday bag when I’m home to prevent someone from repeating the RFID signal, and I’ve taken the battery out of the second key. So far I haven’t had to replace the battery in the key I have been carrying since I picked up my car on February 19th 2025.

had mine for 10 months and no key issues. I don't keep the key far either...it's literally hanging by the garage door.

maybe a bad battery...or keeping it inside the box is actual issue?

Could be poor batteries installed from Porsche, I would get some fresh Duracells in there (always worked for me). Anything under a year is poor effort.
Another possibility would be based on the manufacturing date of your car that it sat for some time say couple of months at the port/dealer/getting updates/etc. with the keys near which would have drained the batteries.

Thanks for all responses. in my case, my car was manufactured and delivered with 2 I’ve replaced the battery with a decent one so let’s see how long it lasts.
