Whilst working in the boot/trunk of the Macan Turbo yesterday I tried to open the flap on the AC outlet on the left hand side. This had previously opened easily to reveal a multi pin socket suitable for many plugs worldwide (US, China, New Zealand/Australia). It would not open, first I thought it had been jammed shut but after some investigation and prying it open I found that it had been stuck closed with clear double sided adhesive tape and was now not intended to be opened.

I removed the side panel that has the 12V socket (which removed very easily) and can see it's also appears to have been disconnected.

This socket opened and worked upon delivery so I can only imagine Porsche Service has disabled this -- all without informing me, or compensating me for a feature I had paid for. To say I'm quite unimpressed is an understatement, and I have an email to my service manager but it's the weekend so I have not yet had a response.

I can only imagine this is work done due to a campaign of some kind and I do noticed that 9Z3 is no longer an option on the New Zealand or Australian Macan configurator.

I have attached some pictures of the inside of the part of the car where the wiring loom runs to. I'd really appreciate it if others can take a picture of the wiring situation in their Macan if they have this option. I know in NZ it's 230V but the setup should be similar even in 110V vehicles I think.

What are the lemon laws in New Zeeland?
In California, I would look at the purchase order, point at the "120V outlet in trunk" item, and say "it doesn't work."
They have four tries to make it work, and at most 30 days in the shop, and if they can't make it work, they have to buy back the car at the purchase price, minus a small per-mile-driven charge.
(safety related problems they only have two attempts, but this doesn't seem safety related)

are you serious? do not think that this case justifies any „lemon laws“ wherever.

what i see from the pictures: the „unconnected cable“ in pic. 2 does not fit to the modules shown in pic.1 & 3. (obviously all 3 are male connectors)

and i have never seen „..a multi pin socket suitable for many plugs worldwide (US, China, New Zealand/Australia)“ in a macan and am sure this is neither e standard nor a optional equipment.

I hope that you are able to get them to reinstall it.

Fair enough, picture of the factory fitted 220/230V outlet below.

the output is on optional equipment. different for europe and usa and gb and surly for other countries. but i assume you did not chose this option?

but may be you are on to something. test the plug / cable shown in picture 2. may be you could retrofit a socket to it?

Looking at those plugs in the pictures, I wonder if there was an inverter module that has been "removed".

I definitely chose this option (and paid for it) and it was on the car when delivered, it has subsequently been removed by Porsche Service when it was in for one of it’s service visits.

Yeah I feel something has been removed as the sockets and plugs that remain in their don’t appear match, but I didn’t try too hard too plug things back in.

This is crazy. So you optioned the socket, got it on delivery, then later after a service call you find the socket door taped shut and wiring harness to the socket missing?

Yep, correct! I'll see what story Porsche Service has for me today....

Thanks for the reminder. I need to chase my dealer.

I optioned this (Aus). Was told that it was not complaint with Au law for some reason, and that the dealership had been told to disable it before handing the car over, pending a fix from the Vaderland.

This was May. Haven't heard anything since.

This is insane.
With any dealer; before servicing I go over all the work.
If during servicing; they find something that needs doing, that is not on the agreed list, however small or large (software update, sanitize the interior, rotate the wheels, replace wiper blade/tyre sealant, etc.) they CANNOT proceed unless they call me beforehand and get my approval (even for no cost items).
If they dealer had ripped out (you say removed), glued shut something I had ordered, paid and received WITHOUT telling me I would be fuming:mad:
