Yes OTA was a selling point, and yes, Porsche doesn't deliver on what it promised, letting alone the several bugs, issues including dangerous ones (total loss of power is obviously a dangerous one) that multiple owners have reported.

I have no pleasure at all travelling to the dealership for (pointless ) firmware updates that should have been possible via OTA, moreover considering that they don't fix anything relevant for us with real issues.

This discussion reminds me of the one when the iPhone was released. Other phone manufacturers as well as users made fun and/or protested: ā€œWhat, a phone that is used for browsing, for emails, with apps? I just buy a phone to make phone calls!ā€ ā€œWe know how to do phones, Apple doesn’t (Samsung)!ā€ ā€œUse a finger instead of a stylus? Crazy!ā€
And we all know how that industry evolved…
I like my Macan and love how it drives. And yes, I wish it didn’t have computer glitches and that some significant OTAs were available. But, it’s not a deal breaker at this point. Said that, I will drive this vehicle for now, but will gladly switch to a future version with the same or better driving capabilities and a more modern software infrastructure. There is nothing wrong with wanting more options. Some drivers will enjoy them, other more traditional or purists might turn them off.
Enjoy your life and your vehicles. After all, we are privileged in that we can afford them!
And sadly (per Elon’s recent cuote that money doesn’t buy happiness), there are more privileged people than us. Just returned from a trip to NASA in Florida. I’m still shocked at learning that a Blue Origin seat costs $28 million for an 11 minute suborbital flight with 3 min of free fall-low gravity feeling! šŸ˜‚

That is because Blue Origin seats literally go over the air.
