Hi all. I just had the software update performed. To VR28.13. I'm worried the Collision alert system could be down. And who knows about automatic braking. I had 1-2 incidents I thought should have triggered a warning. And I've tried to safely test the system - which is not all that easy.

Has anyone had this issue with the update? I read about lane keeping issues, I believe.

I wish there was a better safe way to test the system.

The ACC cruise works fine. And lane keeping seems fine. I didn't realized It only works over 40mph.

I've reached out to the dealer.

I do not believe there was any issue with collision warning prior to the update.

My 4S collision warning works fine after the update. The only issue I've noticed is that it is sometimes slow to start a Level 2 (EVSE) charge. I've been contemplating having the dealer pul the vehicle charger update out.

are you saying the dealer can reverse the update? I'd never heard that.

ironically for me, I think the update is meant to improved the collision mitigation systems, perhaps reduce false positives. But gosh - i'm pretty sure it is not working for me now. Which is disturbing. It's an important safety feature. I will look at to make sure the collision mitigation system is turned on and at max sensitivity.

There were changes in the on board charger software that causes some cars not to charge via the owner's home AC charger. Dealers can revert the on board charger software. Dunno if they would be willing to revert the entire update package.

Just went out to the car... Geez, could they make it any more incomprehensible.

1) you have to go to a buried link in the vehicle assistance systems page titled "additional settings," to find where to turn the emergency braking system on.
2) you then have to press the little gear button on that page to realize there is a sensitivity adjustment. I presume I want it on High, but nowhere, anywhere, do they explain the difference between high and low sensitivity.
3) you then, completely separately, have a three second hold of the emergency flashing lights button to turn on (or off?) the whole system.
4) There is also a warning/dashboard indicator light, that I think only comes on to indicate the system is active if you did the emergency flashing light button thing above, #3. By the way, the dashboard warning message (in the left main binnacle) that shows when you press this button is completely confusion. It makes no sense to what you just did.
5) in addition, the owners manual has about a page of conditions for the system to operate, at different speeds, of which about 10% are clear.

In my car just now, when i went to it, the system #1 was turned on and sensitivity #2 was high. But I'm not sure if #4 was showing. So I did the #3 3-second hold. I now have the warning light showing, which i'm not sure was there before. I guess I will have to try and safely test it again or go into the dealer. it seems crazy that I could have #1 and #2 on, but still have to do #3 to make it active. This is a pretty major safety system.

If I take it in, I'm afraid I'll have to make an appointment 3 weeks out to get a loaner.
Alas - I only document this in case someone else runs into a similar situation.
Thanks for listening!

Thanks. I definitely will not do it while driving. I also read that pressing the P (park) button also acts like an emergency parking brake. Not clear what the difference is then between the two functions.

Do I want to have the "
Electric Macan EV Software Updated - Collision Alert System Down? {filename}
" illuminated in my dashboard? Apparently that means "The emergency stop function is switched on and active." The only way to toggle that on/off is the flashing light button 3-second hold, I believe.

I dunno but there seems to be two features being crossed pollinated here, collision avoidance and emergency braking, but then I may also be confused.

There is emergency braking which slows the car when driver incapacitation is detected or someone presses the hazard button for 3 seconds.

Then there is brake assist for collision avoidance which can automatically apply the brakes. Before I turned it off, this feature would stop the car as I tried to back out of the garage.
