Can't find this answer in the owners manual or in Ask Porsche. It seems like it should, but I don't want a nasty surprise in upcoming cold weather travel.....TIA

Either that or place your baby in Sport+ (or do both!) Sport+ heats up the battery as well. You can keep track on the battery temp in the left dial on your dash.

Only if you add as a stopover and not a destination. Additionally, the EVSE must be >= 50kW DC.

It is documented in the Owner’s Manual.

So if we set the destination to be a DCFC station, it won't precondition?

We always nav station to station, not to the final destination of the day.

No i won't. For preconditioning to work you have to set a different destination and have the charger added along the way. You can tell in the nav if the stop is just a stop/destination or charging stop - the icon is different and for charging stops is shows you real time data of the charger (like the number of available slots).

If you want to precondition the battery then the only documented way to do that is to add as a stopover on your overall destination.

It can take several miles to precondition properly so don't forget that in your planning.

Unless I'm missing what you're saying, the destination is not an icon, it's the entire top section of the nav showing arrival time, arrival%, etc. Then the recommended en-route charging stops are little boxes that slide up/down the vertical line based on how far away they are.

In any case, not preconditioning when the destination is set to a DCFC station seems like a fail by Porsche. There's almost never any reason to nav explicitly to a DCFC station without the intent to charge there.

Food stop, rest stop, shopping, ergo plenty of reasons.

Yeah, I spent some time this morning, and @W1NGE is correct. You can add a stopover as just a stopover, or as a charging station, and if the latter, it shows up in the planner with the gear icon to see the detail of the station (slider for amount of time, number of open stations). I’ve got my trip planned as I want. It’s not intuitive, but you can impose your will on it. :)

The followup question is this: Will the PCP find a different charging station if the one you are aiming for is full when you get there? Or, if you choose not to wait, do you have to find an alternate on your own? If you wait, will the preconditioning of the battery be maintained until you plug in?

We are super-excited to give this a go tomorrow!

Logically, you would nav to the food place instead. Or the shopping place. Not the DCFC.
In UK they are often co-located in the same retail park.

Near me there is an Ionity and ESB HPC charging facility amidst a Startbucks, McDonald's, Costco, Tesco, Greggs and a Wicks DIY. More people visit these outlets in an hour than charge - the stalls are often empty.

What Porsche are missing is simply a button to precondition.

Nope is the short answer but if heated correctly then you won't lose too much whilst tracking down a free stall.

Most times I never bothered to precondition and just waited the extra time whilst the EVSE performed this task for me.

A precondition button would be even better, yes.

But in the absence of that, setting the nav to a DCFC station name vs any other destination name should be an easy alternative.

you can just set a destination as DC fast charger no need to be as a stopover ... I tested this several times ...
I have a DC fast charger at 500meter of my door, I can set it as final destination do some errands and it will heat up the battery ... it will re route the complete time, but my battery will heat up an after 30 minutes to 60 minutes it will be nice and toasty.
You just need to make sure the Nav sees it as a DC fast charger, which sometimes is a hassle, so make sure you select the right address.

The sport plus will only work if you have the chrono package ... I have sport plus for suspension only, as I did not see the benefit, regret not have taken that cheap option.
