Porsche Electric Sport Sound always defaults to OFF

So I'm brand new to the Macan EV and I got the car with the Electric Sport Sound. Every time I get into the car the electric sound is off. I toggle the button on. Next time I get back into the car it's off. Not sure why it keeps disabling every time I start driving again. Anyone else ever experience this? If so is there a fix for this? Its annoying paying for a feature that doesn't work.

It may stay on if you set it ON in the PCM display (Normal Configuration). This has worked for us in the past, but it recently stopped, and I have not tried to reset it.

We have Electric Sound on in the Sport Mode (settings stick) and that is the mode we normally use.

As a side note, recently had a woman in the back seat comment she liked the sound (Macan Turbo). I personally like it better than our Taycan Turbo S.

This is how Porsche has designed it to work on all cars including ICE. Electric Sport Sound or Sport Exhaust Sound must be turned on manually or assigned to a driving mode that is not a default Normal mode.

Yeah, that’s the main reason I didn’t include it in my build. I rarely use Sport mode and wasn’t likely to manually turn on the sound every time I drove.

You have to turn it on every time. I set it to the button on the steering wheel so i just hit that when i get in.

I went into drive mode. Changed it to sport plus. Hit the check mark button and the car still reverts back to no sports sound and it didnt stay in sport plus

Yes, that is by design. The car always starts in Normal to which you cannot assign Sport Sound On.
The point we are trying to make is that you have to either turn it on manually when in Normal or you have to flip it to Sport or Sport Plus with Sport Sound On setting saved in these modes.

I specified sound on my previous Taycans but Macan came without it - can’t say I’ve missed it but surely all EVs should have a noise below 20mph for safety??

I was just about to ask precisely the same question then came across your thread. It's utterly stupid of Porsche to force drivers to turn this function on every time they get into the car. I'm the same as you - I clearly bought this feature because I wanted the sound. So why on earth has Porsche assumed that anyone buying this 'optional' feature would then want it turned OFF by default! It makes no sense at all.

I very much hope this oversight will be fixed in a software update.

It’s off because the car always starts up in the configuration that is used for official range testing. You can modify the other drive modes, but you can’t permanently modify the Normal mode.

Sport Sound (Electric Sport Sound) will always turn itself off. It's another silly decision by Porsche. As mentioned you can assign the ESS to the button on your steering wheel but that's not the best solution because you may want something more important assigned to that "fav" button.
