I have had my Macan 4 about 10 months and have washed / detailed it several times. Cleanup is perfect except for one issue: the rubber strips on both sides of the windshield turn up with very visible white spots after washing (see pic). This is the only part of the car that spots like this. Bumper cleaner removes to spots.

Has anyone else experienced this? Wondering if it a defect in the material used for the molding.

In the past (back in the UK) I kept a bottle of BMW Gummi-Pflege in my detailing bag for keeping on top of the rubber trim. I haven't sourced any over here yet. It worked a treat at getting the rubber clean and keeping it flexible. Here we go: https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-parts/bmw-bmw-gummi-pflege-rubber-care-83192449390. I'm sure other products are available, but the hardcore detailing nuts I ran with back then (!) swore by it and I wasn't disappointed.

EDIT: I realise it may not solve your exact problem but I was so delighted I could remember the excellent name of the product that I had to post it :)

wouldn't this mean you guys aren't drying the car after washing?

Just noticed this on my car today while passing time during charging. It seems to show up worse under certain lighting conditions and angles. I am pretty sure it wasn’t like this just a few days ago. Car was sitting in the sun for several hours today. Wondering if maybe it’s caused by the material drying out in heat or sunlight.

I have this issue and it looks really bad. I asked the dealership about it while my 4 is in for the software update. This is a warranty issue according to Porsche. They are going to order the replacement parts.

Question now is, I assume the windshield needs to be removed to replace these gaskets? And if so, that might cause other potential issues regarding fit and finish in the removal and replacement process of a major component on a basically brand new six month old car.

These are hard water deposits. You might try a glass window cleaner and microfiber cloth. I found that, with some scrubing, 90+% will come off. I also tried a very small amount of “Goo Gone.” Any acidic cleaner, such as vinegar (or more potent cleaning vinegar), should work too. One caveat: keep the more aggressive cleaners off the paint and wipe down the area afterwards with a wet cloth to remove remaining cleaner.

The way to keep this under control is to dry the trim after rain or cleaning, or simply clean it every time you clean the windshield. For me, this is a very minor issue.

Also, just FYI, I had my windshield replaced a few months after taking ownership due to a stone hitting it. The shop did a terrific job. I’ve had no issues post-replacement.

Porsche switching the parts out as a warranty issue. Parts on order. Tech confirmed these parts are easily switched out, as they just “clip” into place. Windshield does not need to be removed. It will be a “while you wait” repair/replacement when the parts arrive at the dealership next week.
