I have just returned home with 13% of charge left . I wanted to charge between 12 midnight and 5 am 35kwh but I cannot do this it seems without charging at peak rate to 25% first. I could set my former Taycan on a timer but Macan doesn’t seem to permit this . Other than getting up at midnight is there a way around this? Cheers.

There's a special setting for "charge to 25% as soon as you plug in."

I *think* you can turn it off, but maybe I'm mistaken and that was my last car (e-tron GT) and it's just always on for the Macan?
Go check in the charge target settings somewhere -- hopefully you can control it the way you want it.

Personally, though I only set "charge target 80%" in the car, and let my wall box control when it actually draws the power. This integrates better with my time-of-use plan where the cost at different times changes based on season.

Thanks …. But …… The Taycan /etron GT set up is different from the Macan. I could delay start and reduce the percentages in Taycan - can’t find anything in Macan.

The Good To Know site confirms that when you plug in a Macan with optimum charging selected, it will take it to 25% and only then revert to a departure time. The problem for you is that you need optimised charging to take advantage of cheap rate tariff.

As you can only get 35kw on a cheap rate 12 until 5am then if you could delay starting at 12% at midnight you would only have 50% at departure. On my EV tariff it would only cost £ 2.50 more to charge to 25% from 12%

I don’t really want to go outside at midnight!! I’m not needing the car so plan to charge to 85% over 2 nights on the cheap stuff!

I think I’d pay the £ 2.50 and stay warm at midnight ! I can only think Porsche wants to put 25% minimum charge in just in case the car is going to stay connected, but not charged for a long time.

i don’t use the scheduler on the car but the one in the chargers app which means the power only switches on at midnight and car cannot draw charge before then.

I agree - this is what I do too and it works very well.

I set my charger schedule for 23:30 to 05:30 and the car has no schedule set at all, just a max charge setting of usually 80%. Then just plug in the car when you get home and the house charger switches on at the appropriate time and the car charges for as much charging as it can fit in 6 hours (around 42Kw or about 44%) or the max charge is reached.

Even better with two electric cars as neither car needs any timers, they both just plug into the house and get charged up whenever the house decides the electric is cheap enough.

My charger controls the charging schedule. I use an Ohme charger and that lets me set the times for the peak and off peak charging. Then I just tell it to charge to what I think I can achieve, usually no more than 35kwh per night and for it to be complete by 5am. The app then typically shows 'charging commencing at 0:02' or something along those lines. The Porsche app pops up an error, which I ignore.

I don’t think I’ve got that on my old pod point.

Mines a Pod Point charger installed in Jan 2021 and it has a scheduler that can be configured via the Pod Point iPhone app.

Are you sure yours doesn't?
