Thank you Awaz. I will keep a look out on here to see if any of the issues on the 2027 Macan become apparent on the Cayenne. I’m really only switching as I have always preferred the look of Coupe’s - I’ve had 4 Merc Coupes before Including a CLS which I think the Cayenne looks very similar to.

I am slightly wary of the increased size but it is only 60mm wider so I’m hoping that isn’t such a problem. I got the rear wheel steering which I believe reduces the turning circle to slightly less than my Macan without it.

Is it true Regen Off is better at open roads where the car just coasts and coasts, but in the city with a lot of traffic, stoppages, etc., Regen On is better?

I think it depends on how you drive. Since the brake pedal on Macan has regen blended in, technically you could mimic the auto regen with the pedal by being slow and gentle with the brake. Or choose to dynamically.

If you think about how you can brake hard for a short period or gently for a long period, or anywhere in between, there is some optimal amount of regenerative braking that maximizes energy recapture. The trick to best efficiency is to find this and also don’t regenerate unnecessarily, coast or maintain speed when possible.

100% agree. Like I'm driving the Macan on the highway, during the down slope, I will manually tuirn off the ACC and having it coast it will pick up speed and smooth. Compared it to my other EV with regen, the car will not be able to coast and I will just leave ACC on as a result.

I'm not sure about other EV with coasting, but a Macan on coasting is like driving an ICE on neutral, which we will not be doing any way.

Haha, in general I like his reviews (the Fisker Ocean one is a fun watch), but this one definitely felt rushed. Granted, we're not objective since we all decided to buy this car, but...

1. "I could only find a 100 kW charger" is a statement about the charger, not the car. We use our car mostly for East Coast road trips, regularly charge at 270kW, and I've had to use Tesla chargers (reluctantly) twice in two years. As we all know, Porsche sent every Macan owner a free NACS adapter, and whichever port your car has, you'll carry at least one adapter anyway.
2. The driving test felt like it was done in 10 minutes on one stretch of road. I can believe that ActiveRide is doing miracles, but calling a car that's 250kg lighter and 20cm shorter not nimble without mentioning rear-axle steering doesn't inspire confidence.
3. Yes, the car is expensive, but it's a Porsche. And "3x a Model Y" only works if you compare a base Model Y with a press car where someone checked every single option box. Most people here (I'd assume) didn't pay $150k for theirs.

As for the "drives like an Audi" debate: The ICE Macan also shared a platform with the Q5, but Porsche made the Macan rear-biased, added a PDK, and made it way more fun to drive. The platform doesn't give the full personality. On PPE, the Macan rear motor is flipped 180º specifically to get the 48:52 rear bias and fit the rear-steering rack. The EV is heavier, but the low center of gravity and rear-axle steering make it more playful day-to-day than my ICE Macan GTS ever was. Don't @ me
