I received my Macan 1 week ago and I am loving almost everything so far.

I have opted to put the map in the center of my instrument cluster (speedometer on left, music on right)

When I start the car it always displays the Porsche PCM Map in the cluster.
In order to have it display a map from CarPlay (Apple, Waze, Google) I must start navigation in any of those options.
Once the navigation starts the map in the Instrument cluster changes and stays in my app of choice (NOT PCM)

Has anyone found a way to have the CarPlay app maps appear in the instruments cluster by "default" instead of the PCM map or how to switch it over without starting navigation?

Thank you

I thought you could only see the Apple Map when you are start navigating to a location. In the Land Rover, your maps in both displays will be consistent.

I have a related issue to using google maps on the center display. When displaying google maps on the center display it will randomly zoom way out and then slowly zoom back in. I can't find any setting or option for changing the zoom level but it will constantly zoom in and out. And when it zooms out its comically far out.

macan navigation uses google maps anyway. are you talking about the macan navigation or are you using google via airplay?

please bear in mind that the PCM needs its own navigation system to determine the range. the following information is included: elevation, traffic, weather, etc.

Yes, when displaying Google navigation using Android Auto on the center instrument cluster. It will constantly zoom in and out.

I haven't found a way, but that may just be me. Mine is setup to connect to carplay on startup. If I get in with a route on the iPhone it shows up in the center tube about the same time as I settle into the seat. Otherwise not.

When I just want a map without nav, I end routing on the iphone and the display will revert to a map without routing. Same display as on the center screen if you are viewing maps there.

Another way is tap on the center screen map display to start routing and pick a location from your saved items. I didn't spend any time finding a way to end route on the main screen, but I can on the iPhone screen. I suppose you can do all that on the iPhone too. But I think you know that.

Zooming in and out depends on your nav app, which may be set to automatically zoom.

Mostly habit but the native Google app also already has all my favorite saved places. So when I do a search or use voice it knows where I want to go. It also syncs my search data so when if i'm looking up directions before getting in the car the route will already be to go when I start driving.

I had posted this on another thread but when I search for things using Porsche native nav it doesn’t list locations in order of distance. For example, it would point me in the direction of driving to another country as the first option and I would have to scroll down a bit before my intended destination would show up.

Minor issue at end of the day but because of it my daily use of navigation is still Google maps or Apple Maps rather than Porsche navigation.

Maybe there’s an option to sort this correctly that I’m missing but I couldn’t find it.

Thank you ColdCase, at least you are confirming it's not just me and if I want to get out of the Porsche Nav I just need to quickly start and stop a route.
