Making your 21" Porsche Design Wheels Look Better

I'm one of those buyers who loves the RS Spyder wheel - but 22" were simply too big (for our bad roads and range implications).

So I opted for 21", and none of the offerings blew me way. But I ended up choosing the 21" Porsche Design Wheel (with little excitement about the decision).

Last night I was watching some videos on the Porsche YouTube Channel and noticed that they painted one of these wheels black (the silver edges). It actually looked really good in my opinion. I have a local wheel expert who could to this. I may temporarily plasti-dip the silver parts on ONE of my wheels so I can see it in person. If I like it, I'll peel it off and have it professionally done. (would never plasti-dip my wheels as a perm solution. I also don't vape).

Not my piece of cake (it could be the pic but it looks like it's very dirty) but I've got a dark car and I evaluated the Vesuvio Grey colored rims (Directly from Porsche) but they were too expensive and I can get annoyed by them.
Maybe I could change my opinion on a clear color (white or silver).
But it's only my opinion.

They aren't dirty. As you can see in the video that is reflection you are catching. Shine.

None of the 20" inch and 21" wheels for the 25-26 model year Macan EV are appealing. In my opinion this black outlining makes them look quite a bit more suitable. Especially for Black and Slate Gray Neo cars. It's not the best wheel I've ever seen but it's certainly far better than anything else on offer.

I'm not a fan of silver anything. Vesuvius gray is nice but only available on 22 inch which I'm certainly not doing.

Vesuvius gray is available in 21".
The 22" RS Spyder wheel can be painted in Vesuvius gray.

No 21" wheel can be painted Vesuvius gray. (and I'm not talking about the natural color of the 21" off-road wheel)

If you choose "Vesuvius Painted Wheels" in the Porsche configurator, your 21" wheels are deleted and upgraded to 22" and you have 2 choices. "RS Spyder" or "Exclusive Design Wheel" (the fan blade style).

Again, both are 22"

To me a black wheel is appealing only when there's some kind of contrast where the rim meets the tire.In fact this is when a wheel looks way more appealing than a silver one IMO.
In the pic below the wheels seems like somehow "floating" on the hexagons and is the style I'm eyeing and decided to get for my winter setup.
The other pic is an example of how a completely black wheel adds even more character to an already very special and distinctive car by the use of just a simple coloured ring on the outer lip.

OP here - I agree that a fully black wheel doesn't always look great.

But equally, a car painted Black or SGNeo, with black window trim, black emblems, black tail light strip, and PDLS in black.....but then you have a wheel with silver "spokes" (for lack of a better descriptor) doesn't look the best.

Certainly depends on the application. I believe the Porsche Design wheel at the top of this thread in its natural black and silver, looks great on a White or Oak Green car. But when the theme is blacked out and dark-trimmed, the wheel selection needs to be different.

...a bit like the GTS cars default to RS Spyder in satin black. To me a black wheel is appropriate in this case.
