For those who don’t have 30 minutes to waste: “The Macan is much better all around but given the price difference, the Tesla is better”.

The value piece could have flown 6 months ago, for sure.

But now, with Musk tarnishing the Tesla brand, even that is a stretch… gotta take into account the cost to clean the graffitis on the car on a weekly basis.

I"m tired of this argument - it's why I don't own a corrolla - even though functionally it' a fine product at a fair price and gets you from point a to point b just fine.

I skipped to the end and was disappointed that the same reviewer that had given the Macan a glowing prior review and said the Macan was “better in every way” was attempting to shame her colleague for favoring the Macan. I know what settling is like as @daveo4EV says, but call it what it is.

As I’ve said before, Tesla has many deal breaking disadvantages. These include lack of CarPlay, but also exclusively optical sensors for the safety system.

Considering the relative lack of configurability, the cars may have some things in common, but are simply not comparable. It was a Tesla puff piece delivered at a time when many others are deciding to boycott the brand over decisions of its leadership. Kind of shameful in my book.

I apologise if I’m being controversial but being a Brit I find it really odd that so many reviewers and even Macan owners, keep comparing the Macan to a Tesla as if the Tesla is perfect in every way and anyone buying an alternative is stupid or wasting money. I read recently that in Europe, China and the UK that Tesla sales have plummeted by 50% so the rest of the world don’t view Tesla cars as the panaceas.

I test drove a Tesla and as I have said before, my fridge has better panel closures, the lack of a speedometer and HUD on a so called state of the art car is very odd. The majority of European SUV’s and saloons are in my opinion far better looking than the 3 and Y. Equally I find it odd that comparisons are made against the Taycan - I optioned up a Taycan the same as my Macan and it was £ 30k more so not really comparable with the Macan, also ignoring one is a ‘super sports saloon’ and the other a SUV.

Wivenhoe , you are not being controversial. I do not think we are saying Tesla is better than Porsche. its not. Tesla was the first electric car with real volume. When i got my first Tesla we trade an AUDI 8 sedan. We wanted to try an electric so we got the Y. My wife said is this as nice as the Audi and i responded of course not. But we wanted to try an electric and i was more willing to take a hit on a $45K car then a $95k car. We drove the Tesla for three years with no trouble. Yes the fit and finish was bad but it was a $45K car. but it showed us that we liked electric, so i ordered the Porsche. Needless to say it is a better car but also twice as much. A tesla is one pedal driving and it is it is has no fake noise which i like. The Porsche is not one pedal driving, i could make a case for either but i do not like the fake noise. The technology is more user friendly on the Tesla, but boy they do some stupid things like having to look right to see if something is on the left (i understand that have corrected this on the 2025). And yes they have more charging stations which is good if you travel. But we mostly charge at home
Now the Porsche drives great, it is a safer (i have no actual proof) car, the adaptive cruise and lane changing is much smoother and better
The fit and finish is the best...
Two different cars at two different prices. Over all i like the Porsche, we have both an electric and Macan and a gas Caynee
