I have to say that compared to the ICE (which has a window frame) the EV door closing is really poor. Requires a bit of a slam to get it to actually close. If they had programmed the window to open a bit more and reduce the air compression it would be somewhat better (I've tested this by opening the window by to something like half an inch). Makes the car feel kind of cheap compared to, say, a suburu or something that has a solid door close. :)

FWIW, I asked them to look at it when having other word done and was told "this is just how it is".

This is why I recommend for that reason alone to go with thermal glass. I have it on the Taycan that is frameless and the doors closing experience is superb. Do not have Macan EV yet, but ordered one with thermal glass for that reason.

How does the thermal glass assist?

How does the thermal glass assist?
Thermal glass is much thicker as it is double glass with a film in between. As a result, it is much more sturdy on frameless doors for Macan EV and Taycan that significantly improves rigidity of the doors resulting in much better door closing and door closing sound. If you have 2 cars side by side, standard glass flexes and wobbles too easily if you grab it at the top, which is not the case with thermal glass. I will also tint the front doors on Macan EV resulting in another layer adding even more rigidity. This problem does not exist, for example, on our Macan ICE as doors are not frameless, but I still option Thermal Glass for glare reduction reasons.

Rear doors close fine because windows go down a little bit more. Front doors don’t close well because windows do not adjust properly in the open position. If you open the roof, front door close fine. In case of Taycar they go down a little bit more and doors close fine.

This is just another examole of poor design and „too much Audi in Porsche”. I don’t think doing the PPE platform with Audi went well ;)

I have to close my door twice probably 80% of the time. Having come from a BMW it is really disappointing they have not figured out how to have a great door closing experience. BMW is the best at that IMO.

Sorry to inform that thermal glass makes no difference in the way the door closes. Still not great.

The one thing I really miss in the Macan? An option for soft close doors.

I have this problem with the driver's door. Last summer Porsche made an attempt at adjusting it, which made a slight improvement, but now it's back to how it was before. It's annoying, and every time I have to close the door twice, it makes me think how the quality of this lovely car really should be better.
