Hi everyone,

First post here, hope this is the right topic. I got a Macan S, delivery in Sept'25, with innodrive.

When driving around UK, whenever using either just for keeping speed, or steering as well, it sometimes disables itself for whatever reason (tricky road, or no markings), but it does not emit a single warning sound!!

I now refrain from using it outside of motorway because I am worried it disables on a turn and I don't notice it #facepalm

Does anyone know if there are setting I'm missing, or if this is just the way it is?

Thank you so much!

Mine also sometimes disables itself, but it does beep.
No signal sounds dangerous; you should probably take that in for warranty service!

Thank you! Beeping is more like what I'd expect, is it a noticeable beep or is it possible i don't hear due to music?

That's interesting as mine doesn't beep when it disconnects either. I had just assumed that's the way it worked.

Maybe not beeping is a UK thing?

Yes, this is one these bugs or design flaws that are simply dangerous.

There are two scenarios:
1) system sometimes quietly disengages and it happens without any warning or sound notification - the car will simply drift and you have to notice it and take control
2) in some cases (something unusual on the road like passing a bike in construction zone) a red circle with a warning to take control and a very audible sound goes off - this is the way it should behave anytime the system decides to deactivate on it's own but in my care it's very rare

I was very much surprised this happened for the first time and it's one many reasons I don't trust this car anymore.

I'm looking forward for the dealer to say that its the software and that it will be better in the next big update...

I get standard beep and error status, "assistance systems may not be available". Nothing specific as far as I can tell, but I don't use lane assist often. I use adaptive speed control often and it seems to keep working.

I stopped using the steering assist now to be honest, because I don't trust it at all... it's just poor from Porsche tbh

please read the manual.
the only “dangerous “ thing is to use something like innodrive without knowing how it operates.

Ps: @TomekGnomek : i am amazed that you still do not know how this car operates..
That's a bit harsh, and also point not made. Nothing on the instructions says: "Innodrive will silently stop operating without notifying the driver"

But hey, maybe it's a feature, just to make sure you're really paying attention!

But that's not how it works. The Innodrive system consists of various functions. Essentially, there is a (very) intelligent cruise control system and a lane departure warning system. The lane departure warning system, in particular, consists of two functions: when active, it warns the driver visually and acoustically if they unintentionally depart from their lane and actively attempts to correct any errors of the driver. When Innodrive is switched on, the vehicle is able to follow the lane independently. When this function is active, a green steering wheel is displayed in the HUD and in the center instrument panel. If the vehicle is unable to perform this function, the steering wheel will flash and turn gray. Furthermore, you are warned and assisted by a warning tone, counter steering (which you really feel), and a red line. Should you not holding the steering wheel tight and ready to intervene you will get a warning in red -very visible- and an loud warning tone. It is beyond me why this well-designed and sensible system should be a problem once you understand it. There is absolutely no need for any additional warnings.

What you are linking to is Lane Keep Assist which is not what we are discussing.

We are discussing Active Lane Keeping which you can read about here:
https://manual.porsche.com/#/wpi/XA..._GB/topic/id/f2b18746246436708d24c0b30c902dd6

So there is no need to be snarky.

Active Lane Keeping in most cars give you an audible warning once the system stops being active (usually due to something preventing it from correctly detecting lane boundaries). It works like this in Teslas, BMWs, MB and Audis and if I remember correctly Taycans also emit a sound when it happens (or at least I never had this issue with Taycan). This is the way it should work. It does not work like this is Macan when system goes from active to passive.

Hopefully they'll rectify it. It's already a bit unimpressive when compared to the competition (and miles away from tesla), but this makes it unsafe. Instead of having to focus on the road, one has to focus on the green light on the dash

Thank you everyone for the feedback, I really was going crazy looking for an option on the car menu.

Thanks!

The „first big software update” will bring some improvements for Innodrive so let’s hope this gets fixed :)
