Got the parts but hesitant to start drilling without the factory install diagram, e.g., size of drill holes. Anyone please?

I mentioned installing a lp holder to my dealer, he said they will do it for free, might check yours.

Great suggestion. As they are 33 miles away, and as I am very handy if someone has the OEM install diagram or similar, I would do it. Though if not, I will call my really good dealership and see if they would.

Thank you.

The bracket comes with 4 rivets.

You position the bracket to the bumper and mark the 4 holes. It should be pretty simple because there's a place to get around the camera so you know it's centered. There's a protruding tab at the lower center behind the bracket you need to cut out first so the bracket can sit flush.

Drill big enough for the rivets (it must be just big enough to push in the rivets - I don't have the exact size any more, but it's 1/4" or smaller, you can match the size with the smallest part of the rivet). The holes are quite big compared to screws.

Put on the bracket, push in the rivets and just pull out on the pins, the pins come off and throw them away. Below is how it looks like when installed and with the pins on the rivets pulled off.

Won’t lie - I’d be paranoid about DIY’ing installation of the following myself in case my alignment was off…My OCD would kill me if i did this off-centre

One time I’d be happy to give to dealership as I’d expect/hope they would have a guide template for this.

You know what, the problem is only if your dealer, or the person installing the bracket in particular, is capable.

I bought a new bracket because my wife got into an accident, so I had to remove the old one the dealer installed. It was not installed properly - they used small metal screws instead of the plastic rivets to mount the bracket. The holes on the bracket were big, much bigger than the pan head screws they used so they basically relied on the 1/4 of the pan heads to barely secure the corner of the much larger holes, using 2 screws only. The bracket was basically just “hanging” on 2 screws. That’s the reason after the accident the bracket came off so easily with the screws still attached to the bumper, and the screws on the license plate itself, scratched the bumper very badly when the bracket came off.

Thank you outie! Re “here's a protruding tab at the lower center behind the bracket you need to cut out first so the bracket can sit flush.,” regarding that tab, might with a plastic pry tool opening up a “slott” so it fit between the upper, painted part of the fascia and the lower, black plastic piece?

No, it doesn't seem to be for inserting into that area. The position does not match. It's also off-center. If you look at the photo I attached previously with the new bracket mounted to the car, you can tell that tab is aligned with the lower 2 rivets, which are definitely at the painted part of the bumper, like right in the center.

The old broken bracket also got the thin protruding tab cut off, so it's meant to be cut off. It might be for some kind of alignment but I cannot figure out how.

Here's the old one, with the circled part being the tab that was cut off:

I installed 2 on both my Macan s, the license plate mount needs to be slid into place and lift up slightly above camera you should here a slight click. It can only fit flush if it slid into and lifted in place properly above camera. Hope this helps. You shouldn't be needing to cut anything.
