Hankook Tire announced on Friday that it will make tires for the Macan, Cayenne, Taycan, and Panamera.

Hankook will provide its Ventus S1 evo3 ev tires, specially designed for electric vehicles (EVs).

These tires are engineered to minimize rolling resistance, enhancing energy efficiency, durability and traction

That is excellent news. Their tires are fantastic for EV’s. Thanks for sharing the good news, posting the link.

Awesome! I'm not as up to speed on tires, but I assumed if it was a press release, it must be good news. Glad to hear they're excellent tires!

Great news as there’s not many options for the 22” wheels. I checked Tire Rack and Michelines for the rears are $600 each.

Jason Fenske, aka Engineering Explained, has great evaluations of Hankook’s for our EV’s. True they are one of his sponsors but Jason chooses and also denies vendor applications carefully. Here is one video that has lots good EV tire info for us whether we choose Hankook’s or another brand.

The article talked about the Ventus S1 evo3 ev tire being supplied which is an ultra performance summer tire I think. Dunno about other models.

My Mini SE came from the factory with these tires and I like them. They are a favorite among enthusiasts driving that car. They stick well and are predictable, but are stiff as you would expect of an ultra performance type summer tire. They have worn well, initially quiet but have gotten noisy at about 15,000 miles or so.

As you may know, ultra performance tires, may handle 30 degree F fairly well, but close to 20 you risk tire damage with any kind of flex. Snow, don't even try it. Rain OK. I've not had a problem, but others found that the Ventus can be easily damaged by potholes. I think that may be the case for any ulta tire option, however.

This tire review site mentions they have been available on the Taycan

Hopefully as Hankook’s also makes all season tires, they also provide them for our Macan EV’s, that their contract with Porsche includes A/S’s. If we see a range extension announced for 2026’s perhaps this would be a contributing reason.

Do the OE michelin's or Pirelli's have the foam inside them?

Good question. I do not know. Glad to see that some J1.2 Taycans are coming with Hankook’s and in an interview with a Porsche top rep when the J1.2 was revealed back then, he mentioned that the Hankook’s were one contributor (of many of course) to their longer range than the first gen.

Do you mean like run flats or the noise abatement foam? Can you tell by looking as I have the OE Pirelli Scorpion MS tires.

I was wondering about tire replacement costs. I have a cost calculator and I was using about $2,000 for new tires. But I may need to bump that number up.

My 4S delivered in April 25 came with 20 inch Hankook Ventus. I have standard suspension as gas is is $3k option in Australia. The tyre/suspension combination performs very well - great grip, minimal noise, fairly compliant over rough surfaces - my previous Porsche experience has been all pirelli on 911/cayenne S - the Hankook certainly are not a ‘lesser option’

I am not sure, if this article is "news". My MY2025, delivered in November, equipped with 20" came with Hankook VENTUS S1 EVO3 EV. Since Porsche is not guaranteeing a specific tire, they list all possible tires in the configurator. The Hankook's are only a possibility right now for 20".

As long as we don't find the official press release with more details, I'd like to point out, that this news outlet is not something that fits the bill of an automotive enthusiast forum. I don't want to get political, but an Azerbaijan news blog, that has a sub headline about the "Armenian aggression", shall not be the best option for your future tire buying decision.

Edit: Found the press release. This is all about the OEM 20-inch tire.
