This has been driving me crazy. My Macan displayed efficiency in units of kWh/100 miles. I don’t like this for two reasons. First, generally larger numbers are associated with better (higher) performance. Not so with kWh/miles (lower is better). Second, I can’t really use the kWh/miles number easily. With miles/kWh, I simply can multiply that by the approximate remaining charge (% of 100 kWh in battery x 100) to get a ballpark estimate of range remaining (assuming the remainder of the trip is similar to the past). So if the mi/kWh is 3.0 and I have 50% left in the battery, my approximate remaining range is: 3 x 50% x 100 = 150 miles. Just a quick, simple manual check (I know, 95, not 100, but close enough).

Anyway, I never could find the way to change the display in the system. I finally did:

• Go to Settings > System > Units > E-Consumption.
• Select mi/kWh. Other options also available.

I assume most people found this sooner than the full year it took me to do so. 😂

Yep. People that got their EV start in a Tesla tend to favor kWh/100mi. But those of us coming from ICE vehicles tend to favor mi/kWh (MPK), because we're already used to mi/gal (MPG).

Neither one is right or wrong, but it drives me crazy to see it the other way because I have to sit here and convert it first to understand what they're talking about. 😅

I had a loaner this week and wanted to change the default to mi/kWh - found that setting quite quickly actually. I find this easier for my head to compute range, I was seeing ~2.4-2.5 mi/kWh, so total range is approx 250 miles. I could not get on with the kWh/100 miles either! Yes this is my first EV experience :)!

I started with a Bolt and used mi/kWh but on my Taycan I quickly switched to using kWh/100mi for the reason of fidelity. It shows 3 digits vs 2 digits. I always mentally shift the decimal place 1 right and think of Wh/mi.
I think I would feel the same way if I were in Europe using kilometers.
Of course to each their own. I would assume that the Porsche range estimate will be pretty much based on the running average as well so I’m curious the need to multiply efficiency by the battery percentage vs look at the estimated range.
Thanks for the discussion @USMA81

I only have Macan loaner experience so far, awaiting my 2026 Macan 4 to get across the ocean.

Thank you and to all who’ve replied.

I’ve been meaning to check the Porsche manual to find out how to do this.

Really appreciate 🙏 the initiative to share on this forum the simple step by step process!
