This is the response I've had from my Porsche dealer, let's just say there is an ongoing negotiation about this matter. Not impressed, especially as I was not told or consulted at all.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to chase my dealer.

I optioned this (Aus). Was told that it was not complaint with Au law for some reason, and that the dealership had been told to disable it before handing the car over, pending a fix from the Vaderland.

This was May. Haven't heard anything since.
I have been told that the option has been removed from the NZ and AU configurators, there will be no fix, and it will never be offered in our market again. Is that accurate? I don't know, but that is what they are saying.

That's an insane, lazy, and unsympathetic response!

Where is the apology?

Where is the offer of a refund on your purchase price?

Most likely they are lying because they have no idea what might happen. Even if Porsche messed up, the dealer could be handling this a lot better.

I've emailed my local and asked the question. If I don't hear back I'll chase it when I collect the car (in for the 3rd time to resolve app/remote connection issues).

I haven't been offered a refund for the option yet, so live in hope that there may be a solution coming.
It was just a cheapish addition that might be useful occasionally so not necessarily a big deal, but frustrating nevertheless.

I'm new to Porsche after a deal-breaking Audi customer service incident, and I expected much more from the overpriced brand. I felt that although it was expensive, the cars were supposed to be bomb proof, and service exemplary. Love the drive... the rest, not so much.

Let's just say I've had a very strong words with the dealership and Porsche NZ are involved. It's still a WIP but I'm expecting some action.

This is from my dealership:

The campaign for the deactivation of the socket is still open. We have confirmed with our technical team, that there is no updated parts or update as of yet. As far as we know it’s not discontinued and PAG are still working towards a solution.

Feels like there was a communication issue with your dealer. I took delivery in May '25 but was informed months before that this option is no longer available for our region before it went into production. The agent did remove the option from the final invoice as well.

We were planning to put in a fridge, so was quite disappointed but went with it anyways.

The wiring is presumably still there, which means they can put in a cigarette lighting outlet instead. You can plug in an aftermarket inverter into that and it'll work fine. Or, some accessories (like cooler boxes) can run on either mains or cigarette outlets, so maybe that'll work.

Quick update on this for those wondering -- I've had a proper apology from Porsche NZ Managing Director and the dealer. I'm obviously being credited for the value of the option and they are adding an extra year of full Porsche factory warranty to my Turbo. I'm fairly happy with all of that.

Sounds like a fair resolution. Thanks for the update.
