My family of four went for a road trip to Cumbria (lake district, an area of outstanding natural beauty for those outside of UK) over half term.

Starting from London, it’s about 6-7 hour drive. Highway traffic conditions were perfect on the way to lake district. I charged the car to 100% and first stop was planned at around 25%. I managed 38 kWh/100 miles (Macan 4 loaner on 20inch) at average speed close to 70mph. Return with traffic closer to 32 kWh/100 miles. Speed does matter ;-).

Charging infrastructure was much better than expected but not hassle free. On arrival for first recharge, all chargers were offline due to recent power cut. Based on personal experience, there seems to be a south-north gradient in terms of charging etiquette. At one time, 13 out of 14 chargers were occupied by ICE. Luckily, I was able to fight off last remaining. These unforeseen circumstances added around 45 min to the trip as of course family was not happy with variety of food options available at alternative stop. Needed to stop again to keep cabin noise to acceptable level (no Bose on loaner, standard speaker easily outperformed by those younger vocals ;-)).

Driving with Macan on twisted roads in Cumbria was amazing (Macan 4, no RWS). Simply best SUV I have ever driven. Traction except “mountain pass” was brilliant in dry and extreme weather conditions. We were warned not to take mountain pass (single lane with incoming traffic) as apparently steepest road in England. On last 3 sharp bends without clear road visibility due to road gradient (best educated guess not to scratch loaner wheels on those bloody rocks), Macan started to struggle for grip in heavy rain (images take before and after summit). Nothing major but first time I got Macan to work. Usually, power comes so effortless.

Car is big enough for family of 4 but kids wished for more leg space due to all the toys and electric devices in the back. Wish Porsche would offer rear entertainment or at least preparation for those longer drives.

I will keep the good memories driving Macan. Unfortunately, Porsche could not fix my car (2nd faulty Macan) so we all decided it would be best to move on. All the best and many thanks for all the help and support. I am moving to Cayenne EV forum ;-). Enjoy your Macan. I am sure I will miss it, IMHO driving experience is as good as it gets for SUV.

Trust you have much better luck with a reliable Cayenne - you’ve certainly had far more patience than I would have had with your Macan.
