I picked up my new 4S on Friday. Today I got in the back to plug in a USB-C cable for guests to use when in the back seat. Well, there's a big hole where the USB-C ports should be, and the actual port panel is inside the center console, floating around unattached to the surround in the...
I was so impressed when I drove into my driveway for the first time and the full surround appeared. And then today, it didn't, and then I clicked the parking button to try to get it to appear, and still not the same view.
Now I know this little quirk, that's one more confusion cleared up.
My final delivery status update: Delivered!
From ordering in August with a lock in October, spending 5 weeks or so on the boat and another 2 to get to Seattle and prepped, we now have a 4S in our garage.
My 4S arrived at the dealer yesterday. We visited it today as we were nearby. We're scheduled for delivery on Friday - mostly due to my schedule this week.
Interestingly, our Frozen Blue Metallic is the very first Macan of this color that I've seen with my own eyes. It does not disappoint. The...
My car travelled with yours across the ocean. It's now at the dealership ready for PDI and delivery this week. Hopefully, my dealer sucks less at this part of the process and I don't see these issues (I can't pick up until Friday, so they have time to make several attempts to fix any simple...
Based on this timeline, mine could be in the Seattle area tomorrow, maybe with pickup this weekend, depending on how many other cars they get and how fast they can prep
My utility has a $300 rebate for the ChargePoint unit, and I can use it for their Flex program that pays $50 for signing up (the utility gets to stop charging if they need, which they pay for, to balance grid load a few times a year)
I've been with State Farm forever, in the Seattle area, leasing a 4S
Replacing an existing car to keep the discounts, I am paying $110/month with 2k deductibles. 1k deductibles with a brand new car added to the account was quoted at $159/month.
My 4S's transport ship - RCC Europe - just docked at Long Beach this morning. It's scheduled for Benicia maybe on the 24th.
My dealer in the Seattle area is setting up paperwork and is trying to get all those cars delivered before the end of the month, which seems optimistic with transport...
The instructions seem to imply that the 5amp fuse is for the Porsche rear camera, so that fusebox is in the trunk area. If you have a dashcam that uses the coax for power to the rear camera, you don't need that rear fuse.
I may be wrong on this point though.
I was told Jan 17 before Emden departure. I think Benicia is the port for the Seattle area too. Several days will be needed to get the car to the dealer, and then prepped. So I'm looking at early February for final delivery at the earliest.
Mine too - it sat around off the coast of Columbia for 6 days, and now lined up for the Panama Canal. My SA indicated Jan 17 for docking in the USA, but that seems very optimistic at this point.
That small range of temperature is the ideal one for starting a new charging session (although I've seen videos where 77F was not getting the best rate, so it's on the low side of 'ideal').
What will happen is, if you show up to a charger at 10%, and in the ideal starting temperature range, the...
I just got a notification from my SA that my car is on the RCC Europe, which isn't even listed in the Volkswagen PDF for car carrier departures!
Scheduled for Benicia arrival on 1/17
The PDF they generate cuts off at least the last 2 ports - the ones on the West coast - in that table. I hope the ship's captain has better info about where they should be docking.
Did anyone else notice at the first charging stop, where the failure occurred?
It looked like, when the max charge level of the car was changed AFTER the charging was 'complete' (charge rate was zero), the charging station got grumpy and failed.
My 4S is currently waiting to find a place on a boat. The boat schedule site shows the next boat leaving December 17/18 and the one after is December 21.
The PDF cuts off on the right side before it shows arrival dates for the West Coast - hopefully the Captain has a wider printer.
So I think...
It seems Out of Spec has a video for every scenario. This one is 2 different VW ID.4 in the very cold. At the same starting state of charge, no precondition available, driving one hard to warm the battery, the other with gentle driving for 30 minutes. How does this change the charging curve...
The Out of Spec Taycan videos are interesting for info about battery temperatures.
On their latest trip across the US - NY to LA 'cannonball' in under 40 hours? they go into some info about managing the temps. Since they drive fast, the preconditioning is used to get the temps down to 90-100F...
Most of the article was sadly pointless - I couldn’t find one that was any better - other than the detail of the lighting software being upgradable, which allows a US car to have European configuration (but not officially)
