Anyone have any concrete information on how they are doing with orders for Cayenne's? I was at the NY Auto show yesterday. A few 'observations':
1) Porsche was stuck in an area with 'exotic cars'. You couldn't approach the cars at all - they were all fenced off. There were no electric Porsche's on display except for one lonely Cayenne Turbo. All other Porsche's were ICE.
2) There was excitement and lots of traffic at Subaru electric, Kia EV3/EV9, GM electric, Toyota electric.. you couldn't even approach the Lucid cars on display since they were mobbed.
3) No Tesla or Rivian but if there were R2's there they would have likely been mobbed given what I saw elsewhere
4) No BMW, Volvo or Mercedes electrics (one low end Mercedes). If there were an EX60 or a BMW iX3, I suspect the same as if there were an R2
Given what's happening with oil shocks, I think this is a poor time to be cutting back on electrification. Although I can understand the comment about strong competition in Europe and China for Porsche .. not to mention the nonsense going on here in the US although I was heartened by what I saw at the show. As for Porsche, I think they are stuck between old thinking and engineering and what is really going to set them apart in the future. I love my Macan 4S but I can see where they haven't yet hit their stride in electric differentiation to warrant their price premium more broadly. What they've done with the Cayenne S/Turbo may be a step.. but the jury is out. They have to move a lot faster.
