I was building a 4S order...
Try configuring a GTS as well and do a like-with-like comparison.
I did one, and it was very close; GTS came out just 600 more.
When the time comes to change, I will probably get a GTS.

Thanks for the tip. I did check out the GTS but interest rates are worse than for the 4S (+3%!) and, strangely, also worse than for the Turbo. I’ll circle back to it before pulling the trigger.

That's such a good point. I found out about that too late. Most of my options are standard on the GTS so the price difference wasn't that much between a GTS and my 4. Next one, I guess...

Does anyone feel that driver involvement lacks a bit? During my test drive I didn’t really, but right after when I took off in my 2.0 VW with paddle shifters, I couldn’t help but wonder… and then I saw the news about the Taycan.

I can’t get interested in the gimmicky e-shift while people keep reporting bricked cars due to mysterious software issues. I want quality, reliability, more range. MY28 better pull a magic rabbit out of Porsche’s hat. The bmw i3 has 250km more range than a macan gts for almost a third of the price. Does the Porsche drive better? Sure. Would I buy one over the i3. No!

At first I was confused about the usefulness of paddle shifters on a one speed electric car, the first video mentions an 8 speed transmission... but then see that it is perhaps it a quicker way to select different power modes for those cars that have them, change up display eye candy and adjust to more aggressive engine sounds. Maybe it goes a little further and simulates the look/feel of an 8 speed transmission like engine braking and engine sounds are currently simulated?

Clever but just not interested.

You must mean the iX3? Fair enough! However, that has no air suspension, no rws, and quite polarizing design language.

Yeah it does control regen levels to simulate engine braking as if downshifting a PDK. That is the main point of interest for me. As for upshifting, I wonder if E-Shift stages power delivery in a way that would save a bit of battery charge compared to the regular unbridled acceleration.

Yes, other than BMW iX3 & i3 50 xDrive have better and more efficient batteries with their cylindrical cell technology, they get far better range.
The likes of Volvo and Mercedes, with cars like the EQS 450 etc are also giving very good range.
Porsches can't stay behind their peers and rely just on better driving dynamics. They need to catch up. A real-world range of circa 280 miles is not bad but very ordinary and common in most cars!
