My wife and I just returned from an Epic Road Trip from Atlanta to Niagra Falls. 2,400 miles in 10 days. Spent $150 at super chargers. All but two of our hotels had free charging. My wife and I are 1st-time EV owners, and die hard fans of the Macan 4! Average consumption was about 2.9miles/kWH at Autobahn speeds and a whole lot of mountain driving in TN/KY/WV! We saw exactly ONE other Macan EV on the entire trip, and it was our last day coming back to Atlanta. Air suspension, double-pane glass, and rear stear make the Macan a mile-cruncher and parking lot beast. As most veterans already know, we found out that our bladders determined charge stops more than anything. Also, that the Porsche Navigator is NOT to be trusted ;-) Google maps was much easier to use.

Sounds like a fun trip and you saved about 450 in gas. I’ve done a couple of 1000 mile trips and have never felt as relaxed after a long day of driving.

I also just returned from a long trip, 3,000 miles, from Phoenix to western Missouri, up to Nebraska and home. It was mostly highway, except for a long leg after Omaha across an EV charging wasteland on the backroads, north to south across Kansas, Oklahoma and into Texas. One Ionna charger on I-70, which I crossed north to south, was sufficient to get me to the next high speed charger at a car dealership in Stratford, TX, in the panhandle. This was a more direct routing; I could have stayed on major interstates, but it would have added a lot to the distance. Earlier in the trip, I also was on backroads in MO and had to plan a bit carefully there too.

Compounding this, efficiency was not great since I had a bike on the back. I did get lucky with a strong tailwind in central Kansas that helped me from having to slow down to extend the range between stops there.

I used Innodrive (or whatever it is called now) for 90+% of the trip. It greatly reduced my fatigue.

As with other “EV charging wasteland” trips, I reaffirmed my conclusion that, while not as easy as in an ICE car, the 300 +/- mile range of the Macan makes these trips possible, even reasonable. With each trip, the ease of planning them and my confidence in doing them increases.

When I was younger I would do epically stupid stuff like driving from Atlanta, GA to Los Angeles, CA by myself in two days -- that's about 2300 miles, driving around the clock and only stopping to get gas. The motivation? I unexpectedly needed to bring a car home but had plans for the weekend.

I got older and a bit wiser, and while I would still drive long distances in my ICEs where I would only stop for gas, I found that I got beat up physically and mentally doing that.

I took one long road trip in the Macan in November of last year, 3400 miles in five days. Having InnoDrive on 90% of the time on the highway, massage seats to relax the back as needed, and stopping every three or four hours for a twenty to thirty minute break made the driving a breeze. The last leg of that trip was 872 miles in twelve hours of driving, and I didn't experience the physical and mental exhaustion that I did with the longer ICE drive intervals. The trip in the Macan undoubtedly took a bit longer than it would have in an ICE, but from a comfort perspective it's a great road trip machine.

I used Google Maps to find chargers. I felt it provided a better 'big picture'. You can enter your vehicle type and it weeds out the Tesla chargers that are Tesla-only. Didn't need to charge in Canada because we only spent two days in Niagra and everything was walkable (including walking across the border to get to the Maid of the Mist).

if it helps ... 100% SoC NJ (Essex Country) to Washington DC Right up to the White House arrived at 33% SoC. 70-80 Outside temperature. Drive 3-4h I think Niagara Falls was 5h from here in NJ.

I honestly am now more afraid of flat tires then Charging. I drove on a Sunday and no dealerships are around to replace a flat. And some tire shops wont touch EV/Porsche (Happened to me) cars. It seems the tires are exclusively available at the dealerships only. Or tire rack but that has no use unless you take them with you in the trunk. At best they can patch/plug the tire but only when it is not the side wall or near to it.
