I’ve test driven a couple Macan EVs which I found engaging to drive and I also like the styling/ look. One thing that might make it not work is the smallish area behind the 2nd row being too small for our 80lb Briard. We have other larger vehicles that fit her more easily but the Macan would be my wife’s car and she wants to take her to the groomer or vet with needing to use my f150.

as a 2nd choice, It seems the SQ6 e-tron has a larger area behind the 2nd row, any opinions why the e-tron might or might not be a good 2nd choice behind the Macan EV?

I did a test drive in the Q6 and was very impressed. It does have a little more room in the boot which would suit our two dogs (Cocker Spaniel and Border Collie) very well.

But then I had a test drive of the Porsche Macan found I was doomed to buy one - it really is that much better and for only quite a lot more money. Everything you see and touch and the whole driving experience is streets ahead. The dogs fit fine, a little less sitting up space but still loads of lying down space.

So my advice is don't test drive the Porsche, its too good. Just buy the Audi, have happy dogs and live life not knowing how good the Porsche is.

Or get the Porsche, dogs fold quite well!!!!!!

Depends on your dog's behaviour in the car, but think she be perfectly fine in terms of size. You can bring back seats in a more upright position if needed. I assume you don't use dog cage. Don't forget to oder luggage compartment partition net, otherwise you have a copilot.

Aside from folding the back seats flat, you can also put them into a vertical (instead of the reclined) position that would give your dog a bit more space.
Actually I'd forgotten about that, It keeps the base of the boot the same size but increases the space quite a bit at dog head height when doggie sits up. Must give it a go on mine as I almost never have people in the back.

I test drove a Q6 Prestige. I chose the Macan and missed out on a few bells and whistles. Way more fun to drive. And the Audi has had a ton of software issues.

I came from an ICE Cayenne to the Macan EV, and space for my 80 lb. Golden Retriever was a primary concern, but it has worked out fine. She’s good on even longer trips, let alone trips around town. Headroom is a bit tight, but she lies down on most trips. As others mentioned, setting the rear seats more upright yields a bit more room.

I went on a 3 hour road trip with my 75lb mutt. I folded the rear seats flat and tossed his bed behind the front seats and he was content to curl up for most of the trip. There was enough headroom for him to stand up and look around a few times.

My dog sits on the back seats, of course with a dog blanket. She seems to like it much more than in the boot. It’s a German pointer, rather big.

I think this depends more on the dog than on the car. As said above -- the half-way-up position of the rear seats can help with boot space, but also, my wife always takes the dog in the back seat rather than the trunk of her even-bigger SUV (Volvo XC90) because that's what works for our dog.
