NA Porsche owners can now access Tesla Supercharger network. Free adapter for all Macan EV owners

For finding available Tesla chargers it is easiest to use the Tesla app. Porsche can only use V3 and V4 chargers but do not have access to all of these chargers. Either Tesla has restricted non-Tesla use or the chargers don’t have the necessary CCS communications protocol. I compared PlugShare to Tesla and PlugShare showed Tesla superchargers that the Tesla app did not show. https://supercharge.info/map seems to be in agreement with Tesla if you select the NACS (not Tesla) option in the setup.

I noticed last night that plugshare notes in the charger description those chargers compatible with partner cars with an adapter and those that are tesla only . You may see several unsuccessful attempts at tesla only chargers, but otherwise successful.

I happened to notice several Rivian system chargers that are compatible with any brand.

Thanks. I see what you are saying but it is rather a PITA to have to examine the notes. The Tesla app only shows shared superchargers and the supercharge.info map can be set to show only shared Tesla chargers. In PlugShare if I set the power to 160kW some of the Tesla chargers disappear. That may solve the problem. We will all figure it out together.

Well yes, of course. I’m not surprised that people charge their cars. I just find it a bit funny that nobody who actually needs to charge has shared their experience yet. Just people who are excited to try it out.

Well, speaking for myself, I just wanted to assure myself that it works, that I understood how to make it work, and that therefore it will likely be there for me when I actually really need it.

I appreciate people trying it to confirm it’s working so that others who may need it don’t have to worry about what they will experience when they get there. I have certainly charged in places when I didn’t need to just out of curiosity and for my own peace of mind.

They vary quite a bit. In some places SCs are more than EA, in some places they're less. Usually fairly similar though. Also, in some places they have time-of-day pricing.

And like EA, they have a discount subscription plan you can sign up for that lowers the per-kWh price by roughly 25%. $7/mo for EA, $11.99/mo for SC. You can easily subscribe for just a single month if wanted. In fact, on both of them, you can subscribe then immediately cancel. That will sign you up and automatically terminate after 30 days.
