Wintertyres; 285/40 R21 or 295/40 R21

My Macan 4 is delivered with the 21" Turbo wheels. Don't like them, but good enough to become my winterset. So I'm looking for a set of wintertyres. Not much choice (EV + NE0 is almost impossible), but found the Hankook Winter i*cept ION A IW01A.

Front is straight forward; 255/45 R21, but the rear is different. The car is delivered on 295/40 R21, but if I take a look at the wintersets they are offered with 285/40 R21.

Not much difference, only the width is really different. I can image you put more load on a tyre if it's smaller and that that would be a reason to choose 285 over 295. Is this also what Porsche is thinking?

Dunno about Porsches thinking. Given the same tread design and compound, narrower tires are better on snow and slush, wider tires on ice..

This plus 285 will have slightly lower rolling resistance compared to 295 which is important given winter tires in general have high rolling resistance and there are not that many EV winter tires.
