I’ll be away for 5 mostly cold months and looking for best practices on leaving the 4S covered, away from the elements but subject to freezing temps, and I don’t have access to an outlet. Porsche is very adamant about not putting any power to it when covered. So, do I just let it drain? Ive tried the dealership and customer service and getting mixed messages. Any advice is appreciated.

If you have access to an outlet plug in the portable charger. Before you leave drain it to 60%, set the max charge to 50% and call it a day.

If you dont have that option (physically) then make sure someone can jump in and charge the car if need be. 5 months is a long time and at freezing temps the car will protect the battery and eat up some capacity.

A member here mentioned his Macan dropped 10% over a day, while on vacation for two weeks, for "no apparent" reason. Maybe the app wakes it up, maybe he fat fingered the precondition, maybe some algo kicks in to keep the battery active. I wouldn't risk it.

If you leave enough airflow for the cooling ducts, in case it decided to cool itself in the winter 🥶 all should be well. I doubt you'll be plastic wrapping it tight.

Personally the longest I've gone is 3 months, with another EV, not the Macan, but in warm months. I would not do this in the winter without a backup plan.
