My simple question is why doesn't Porsche have an API that can communicate with external EV chargers for charging at my home?

I would appreciate an answer if anyone knows if there is an API, or will there be an API in the future. Most EV manufacturers have an API that communicates with the car and the car's battery.

Today I cannot charge my Porsche Macan 4 model year 2024 with the help of suppliers who control charging at low-cost times, this is to minimize the cost of electricity.

no API has been published - if you want to do this get an EVSE that can be controlled via API - I believe there are EVSE's with remote API control…

set the car to "always charge" and then manage charging via enabling/disabling the EVSE…

I have had several Teslas since 2017 and they have API that charge suppliers and IT companies that develop smart solutions for controlling electricity consumption, which is an advantage since as a consumer you buy at an hourly rate and can also control your solar cells to charge the car or sell to the grid.

so Tesla has it - they are a digital company - Porsche is not - Porsche barely admits they have any software - API - ROFL

you seem to feel that because Tesla has it Porsche will have it - they don't - they won't and there is nothing you can do about it…

if you want a modern product that embraces the latest in digital technology and extending that integration into home grown solutions with API access - well yeah Porsche is not that…and I do force that they will be any time soon.

move on…Porsche is what it is, and they are in trouble because of it.

I guess the question is, what kind of API are you looking for? If your home charger supports scheduling (my Wallbox does), and most do, then it's simply a matter of setting that up for night hours (or whatever hours are low cost hours). The charger tells the vehicle to stand by and resumes during the charging hours.

I use Octopus Intelligent Go, a tariff that uses the cheapest hours at a reduced price. It does this by connecting directly to the Macan.

Also, as @daveo4EV explains, I have an EVSE (V2C trydan) that I can program with different tariffs, plus I can control it with Home Assistant and program multiple scenarios.

In my view that's tasking the vehicle with the wrong "job".

This should be a function of the grid/charging station. Almost every home charger that has web connectivity has an API and BMS integrations (HomeAssistant). Mine does and HomeAssistant monitors the grid and adjusts the schedules on it accordingly.
