Apologies. Car is still at the detailers
Im having to think about this, i know some people get the car delivered to the detailer before even driving it. I was thinking to have a weekend with mine first before handing it over but might be very risky

If you're having PPF, absolutely 100% - no way you want to risk an avoidable stone chip or deep scratch before PPF gets put over it, and would likely have protected you from... if just a ceramic coating, then up to you. I would still go with detailer first, to avoid the dealer touching the car with their scratchy microfibres, or careless power hosing, and having someone with pride do a better/proper decontamination, paint correction and prep, but not as crucial - they should do that when they (detailer) gets it anyway...

Most OPC's use a detailer for prep anyhow, but some insist on getting the car wash round the corner to hose it down and dry it up, especially after a service/warranty job... I went to inspect a car at OPC and saw them carelessly jet washing it as I arrived early (with the hose right up against the surface), and as feared bubbles all over the edges of the PPF, car rejected right there. I never trust a dealer, even an OPC to wash the car after service or warranty job, as appealing as that sounds, after numerous swirl marks and careless washing/drying. All comes down to how particular you are about this kind of thing ;).

Yeh it will just be abit gutting to get the car then immediately hand it over but it will need the car to be delivered to my front door from the OPC (lease contract requires it). Then it will need driven from my house to the detailer, which is about 18 miles of country road.

My plan is to ppf the high impact areas, front bumper gloss black side skirts, mirrors, wheel arches and obviously ceramic coat (which isnt needed immediately). Also going to add some protection to the racetex interior.

@PastaSource, on this picture ^ you are saying the wheels are painted in Satin Black, well there is no option at least on the US configurator to paint them in Satin Black, are you sure this is not actually the default Anthracite Grey, although on the picture they look very satin black? if so, then this looks much better than the configurator showing it to be more like Satin Platinum, which I do like on my Macan GTS ICE.

This appears to be a picture of an actual wheel in Anthracite Grey and it appears to match the look in the picture:

Is this the performance tyre option?

Ha yes, I’ve often done that ‘drive to the detailer’ through gritted teeth - in the Spyder it was 2 degrees in December on MCup 2’s - nerve wracking!!

Different wheel (RS Spyders) but all 3 possible colours - Anthracite, Gloss Black, Satin Black.

Anthracite will look demonstrably grey when seen along side the other black elements of the car - this may be the effect you want.

There is a similar rim style on the Taycan GTS where the standard fit is 20" finished in satin anthracite grey and since 2023 I think I've only ever seen 1 car with these wheels. The colour is just wrong IMHO but again a personal preference. Pretty sure that's the reason why none of the 19 Macan EV GTSs on sale in UK don't have the standard wheels.

Hi Gary,

Has your PPF fitter been able to obtain the GTS specific cutting templates?

I pick up my car on the 2nd March and planned to take it direct for the PPF to be applied. However, my guy says the two databases he uses both show the Macan EV GTS as planned at the moment.

Hi Andy, no unfortunately they aren’t available as yet when i last spoke to him and the quote I got was based on the turbo, you would hope they would become available asap now the first of these cars are being delivered

Hi Gary,

Sounds like you are in the same situation as myself. I haven't had a quote yet as I wouldn't think the cost will be too different to the track pack that he fitted to my Macan EV 4S in Jan 25.

Managed yesterday to get the insurance sorted for the GTS as the model finally started appearing on the insurance database. Ironically, the cost ended up lower than my previous 4S!

First proper, non-marketing first impressions I've seen... not a lot of substance still but nice to see/hear the difference in the sport sound modes (just appears a lot louder in sport plus, I kinda like it), and to see the 21's in more context (liking them more too, and likely to spec them now that I'm gonna have another shot later in the year).

Finally some perspective! Very positive and i really like the sports sound too. Look forward to hearing abit more about cornering/balance from someone else.

230 miles range is pretty decent given (i) how cold it is (ii) autobahn speeds demonstrated

Yeh im now very happy with my 21 wheels and also body coloured door mirrors just seem like a better choice to me, even when looking at them whilst driving
