I’m waiting for my Macan to be delivered and have been trying to find out which maps the Macan uses. Is it Here Maps, as ChatGPT claims, or Google Maps, as the dealer says?

If I’ve understood correctly, the Macan is the first Porsche with Android Automotive, which should mean that the Macan comes with built-in Google Maps?

I’m guessing this question is an easy one for most people here? :)

Google Maps but obviously you can use either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and use their (or alternate) mappings.

Android Automotive refers to the operating system as used on the PCM.

All Porsches use Google Maps as the default mapping (satellite layers etc) - part of your Porsche Connect subscription (you get 10 years for "free" on a new car).

Note that other sources will be integrated for traffic etc.

I know the satellite layer comes from Google, but I believe the map layer are from Here Maps (formerly Nokia) in the older Porsche models.

I recently drove a Macan GTS (model year 2024) and compared the map with different map apps on my iPhone.
The map was identical to Here Maps and differed from Google Maps.

So my question is whether Porsche has switched to Google Maps in the Macan EV or continues to use Here Maps?

The ICE Macan and the Macan EV are two totally different vehicles, who happen to share a little bit of the same name. The Electric shares approximately zero components with the ICE version.

The Macan Electric is built on the "premium platform electric" VAG platform, and its closest sibling is the Audi e-tron Q6.

That's why I suggested there where other provisers for the full mapping pack and related features - traffic, sat layers etc. Same setup on other Porsches.
