I've had my Macan 4S EV for 8 months now and I love it! But...there are some decisions Porsche has made about how this car operates that I really don't like. Porsche has decided they know better than we do about some functions and have failed to include options that I believe would make for a much better product. I am posting these "gripes" in the hopes that perhaps the Porsche people might see and appreciate my concerns and address them in a future software update.

1) You have to turn off Interior Monitoring every time you get out of the car. There should be an option to leave this turned off permanently! My car alarm has gone off numerous times because somethings I have in my car, which do move some in their containers, set off the interior monitoring. This really sucks - and a software change to provide that option would be very easy.

2) Provide a way to turn off the alarm that goes off while backing up with a bike rack on the back. Every car I have ever owned allows you to turn off this annoying alarm and Porsche could too very easily (again with an easy software change.)

3) Put the odometer on the dashboard in a place that can always be seen. There is plenty of space! Right now, only one view in the left hand window shows the odometer.

4) If you lift up off the seat - even a little - while backing up your car with a trailer, it throws the car into PARK. This is a safety feature I know but let me turn if off temporarily.

None of these things would keep me from recommending my Macan and of course we all learn to live with annoyances but come on Porsche - make this car perfect!

My list:
1. Active matrix headlights (per US specs) in next model. Actually make them HD like the Cayenne.
2. Soft closing doors.
3. Warning when you open the driver’s door if your phone is in the charging compartment.
4. Allow Siri to respond to requests made from the passenger’s seat (like the native Porsche assistant).
5. Allow the rear seats to recline.
6. NACS port and Apple Car Key (coming).

This!

Also, personally I don't have a pet delivery business, but I guess I can empathize with those who do.

From the manual, clicking the Lock on the key, or on the door handle, twice in 2 seconds will disable this monitoring. It's annoying, and often forgotten, especially on ferries (there's an inclination monitor involved) - which is how I know about this feature!

Yup! But you have to do it every time you get out of the car. I'm driving thru my neighborhood delivering food to seniors, my dog sitting in the passenger seat, the alarm goes off at every house. I want an option to turn off Interior Monitoring forever.

Porsche should read the forums and reviews - but they don't - they decide in house on what's best.

Electronic Sport Sound disables every time you get out of the car. I want my favs button assigned to something different than ESS.

But the list is long.

The tailgate shouldn't beep when closing - or be something you can disable. It doesn't on European models. And it's not a US regulation because Teslas don't beep when the hatch is closing, nor does Rivian.

I'm sure everyone has their list of pet peeves.

Mine is the car auto turning on and off, I wish it can be switched so it's manually done with the power button.

Ability to disable the rear hatch and frunk buttons on the drivers door and on the key fob.

oh okay pet dog. was really hoping for a fun story. thank you for providing care for our senior population!

1. 100% agree, although I heard the new Cayenne will have the nerfed version like the macan EV due to regulation.
2. hell yes soft closing doors please, miss it dearly.
3. I thought it already does this?
5. Porsche has never done this, I don't think they ever will.

They do read the forums, reddit, etc. Porsche just has their own philosophy on how they want their users to interact with their car.

As for electric sport sound, Porsche intentionally make this a thing you have to manually turn on every time you drive. They treat it like sport exhaust, which also defaults to off. Again, it's a philosophy and Porsche customers have been compiling for 10+years about the sport exhaust button, not changing anytime soon.
The tailgate beeping is also a DoT regulation I believe, not sure how Tesla/Rivian gets around not having it. It started when power tailgates were being introduced and people were getting injured.

Interesting that most of the complaints about this car are usually people who came from Tesla/BMW or now Rivian. Porsche was never really about features or ergonomics, etc. because if you're buying a Porsche for that, I think it's horrible value.

100% agree. for a company that put the starter turn knob on the 992.2 GT cars after customer complaints, surprised they went with the always on way of setting up the car.

1. Porsche reads the forums? Show us where you learned this. Who in corporate told you that they are hip to user input?

2. Sport exhaust and ESS are not the same thing, and relating them is inaccurate. One reason Sport exhaust can be disabled is because when you're coming home to a nice neighborhood at midnight, nobody wants to hear your car exhaust ripping and snorting the entire time.

3. Tailgates don't beep as they are closing on many cars. It's not regulatory, it's mfg choice. Rivian, Hyundai, and Tesla aren't "getting around it". In fact I don't think the Volvo C40 beeps when closing either.
