HUD failing while driving on a warm day?

It might be the warmest day of the year in Seattle - 90F+ - and I parked in the sun!

On the way home from my appointment, a HUD warning message (in white) displayed about it being unavailable, and it disappeared, then came back, then went again. Each time, it faded out, not simply on/off. It did this about half a dozen times in 5 miles. The fading suggests an overheating problem in the dash, but it really wasn't that hot in the cabin, as I pre-conditioned for a while before getting in.

I've not seen this before, and a quick search didn't show anything from any of our warmer weather members.

I haven’t seen this issue, but have noticed that depending on my viewing angle, the HUD display will appear to fade out. You can try setting the angle so the HUD is displayed a little higher. (In my case, I sit up in the sit a little higher).
If your viewing angle did not change it is probably time to get the dealer involved. The frustrating part will be demonstrating the problem and proving it is fixed.
Hope you get this worked out. The HUD is high up on my list of favorite features if not at the top.

The dash warning made it very clear that this was a problem the car detected (and my first indication that there was a problem!), so it's not an angle or a glare thing. The message goes away fast enough to make it hard to get a photo while driving, and it's not in the Notifications app either.

This is now top of my list of things for my dealer, and may trigger a visit if it happens again.

The warning definitely seems the sign of a more major issue.
With my tailgate issue (my one major issue) there was no record of the problem in the cars digital logs. Fortunately I was able to demo it to the dealer.
Hopefully this is called out with a corresponding diagnostic code that allows the dealer to quickly reconcile the issue.

The car should record diagnostic trouble codes and keep them for a while even if there are no messages displayed.

Incidentally, the My Porsche app has a screen that supposedly shows your car’s messages under Owners Manual -> Vehicle -> Warnings and info messages, but I have never seen anything there for my car. Might be worth checking though.

Hope the OP’s is fixed shortly. Mine has never been an issue even on a 100 degree day sitting in direct sunlight.
