Been waiting on the sidelines for quite some time to see how the depreciation game worked out, but my heart is telling me to go now. Used prices on CarGurus seem ok, but since I keep seeing mentions of folks successful in getting significant % off MSRP, I wanted to try if I should just go for a new unit.

Do you have a dealer in the USA that is particularly willing to move the cars with discounts off MSRP? If so, would love to know so I can narrow down the calling options.

Hope I can get into a 4 sometime very soon :D

I recently specc’ed and bought a new Macan through a small dealership (below), and a used Macan off the lot of a large dealer. My experience: smaller dealers have fewer, available vehicles and so don’t have as much tied up in capital and maybe can hold out for higher prices (and odds are they don’t have a vehicle on the lot you like); larger dealers have more vehicles, but might be less willing to negotiate because they are in larger markets with more sales volume.

You might look at any dealer for a Macan you like that has been sitting for a while. Or find several vehicles you like anywhere and just begin lowballing bids sequentially. In the past, I also have contacted the sales manager so that the dealer doesn’t have to pay a sales commission (but they might turn you over to a SA anyway).

Porsche Fort Collins (small) is a dealership that until recently was owned by my cousin, who sold it just before I specc’ed and ordered a Macan through them last year. The experience was good (But I better say that). I recently bought a used Macan at Porsche North Scottsdale (very large). They have quite a few Macans EV on the lot. I also had a good experience with them (long time customer there). Neither deal I did offered me exceptional pricing, but I got the vehicles I was pursuing.

I can highly recommend Sean LaBonte at Porsche Fresno ([email protected]), who got us an S allocation when the model was just announced, was aggressive on price, and extremely responsive. He even stayed himself before Christmas Eve making sure plug and charge was working before we took delivery. Also helped us 6 years before with a Cayenne e-hybrid even though we ended up buying elsewhere. A real class act.
