AV Chargers in France not working

Hi all,

I just came back to the UK from a short trip to France. I don't seem to be able to charge from the AC chargers in cities (typically 22kw). The charger will open its flap with the Porsche card but the car would simply say charging error. It charges fine at the DC chargers (100kw +) without any problems.

Anyone has similar experience?

Have you tried enabling Compatibility Mode?

Using compatibility mode
With the compatibility mode, the encryption between the vehicle and the charging station can be suspended if an error occurs when establishing communication with the charging station.

As there are different software versions of the charging infrastructure, the intelligent charging functions may not function or may only function to a limited extent in individual cases. For example, the vehicle cannot be authenticated or the charging process may be interrupted.

Activating or deactivating compatibility mode

I have used it many times in french cities and it always works. I think you mean that metal flap on the charger that opens up when you use your charging card or rfid.
I really like this type of charging because you get a free parking space somewhere near the center, there's always room and because of the slow charging speeds you can park there for many hours.

Many thanks for the replies. I did manage to open the flaps so the Porsche charging cards do work. The error comes after plugging the charging cable in. Did you have the compatibility mode on?

It's such a bummer to get a good spot in city centre but failed to charge!

Will try compatibility mode on my next trip!

I did not do anything special, so no compatibility mode.
I only used compatibility mode once when I had trouble charging at a DC charger, I think that was in Belgium. I think compatibility mode turns off after each drive just like the speed warning and the lane keep assist (thanks EU for adding this to my turn off checklist for every drive).
