  1. Trip to Telluride, Colorado

Two suggestions. First, go sit in the car and enter your ABQ destination into the Porsche nav. Then look at the estimated charge at the destination. The system may also recommend a charging stop if your car is not sufficiently charged to make it all the way. Or, if you charge to 100% before...
  2. How is InnoDrive?

I have a post in here somewhere alerting to the fact that merging traffic is a problem for Innodrive. I came way too close to rear-ending a tractor trailer with it engaged. Scary. My fault for looking away right at the wrong time. The lane centering feature is designed, I believe, to make sure...
  3. Tesla Supercharger Access

I think we’re being punked. šŸ˜‚ More seriously, I’d love to get a free adapter, but the cost is negligible for the value it will deliver. In fact, I bought the Lectron (a freebie , if provided, will go in my other Macan). Also, when I set up my Macan in the Tesla app, it asks if I have an...
  4. First Road Trip Palm Springs to Portland

Ditto. Also, I’ve found that once I get out of urban areas, the EA stations along the highways are mostly unoccupied, at least where I’ve been driving, AZ, NM, UT, CO. And that lower utilization also helps when one is not working - just move to the next.
  5. New Macan All Wheel Drive

Seven months ago, my SA sent me these screenshots for troubleshooting PC. I recall I was able to get it working. Before doing all of this, please read the bottom of the final screenshot; it might be that something else needs to be done and you can avoid these steps. It seems these steps are...
  6. [FAQ] - EV Chargers - common misconceptions - what is an EVSE?

One other thought. The anticipated amperage draw affects the size (gauge) of the wire coming from the electrical panel to the hardwired charger. The change in wire size sometimes is important because the wire gets really stiff at lower gauge sizes (thicker wire). This might make it harder for...
  7. [FAQ] - EV Chargers - common misconceptions - what is an EVSE?

If you are buying an EVSE, the embedded video in an earlier post is valuable to watch. For me, the Porsche charger was silly expensive and I found online complaints about it. I don’t need load sharing because I only need to charge one EV at a time. After watching the video, I bought the...
  8. How to ensure you scrape your front splitter

I believe it will return to normal height if the drive mode is in Normal. I have found that it won’t return to the normal height after slowing down if you are in Sport driving mode. That’s where I got into trouble.
  9. Turbo service and Macan 4 loaner

Dave, you might recall that I posted that I had this very issue when I picked up my Macan at the LA EC. No comfort entry in the driver side only. Chewed wires in the front bumper. Porsche didn’t want to cover the repair, but I was able to show it happened prior to delivery, and they finally...
  10. How to ensure you scrape your front splitter

Yes, for regularly traveled routes, the memory function is great. Unfortunately I was not on regular routes when I scraped my car.
  11. MY’2026 Configurator Changes - New Macan Options Added

There was a video of Out Of Spec Dave driving his Tesla vs wife’s Macan. He implied the Tesla eye monitor was too sensitive and looking away even briefly was problematic. He mentioned there is some kind of lock-out on the self driving if you looked away too often. Maybe a Tesla owner can...
  12. How to ensure you scrape your front splitter

Previously I posted that I’d scraped my front splitter while trurning into a parking lot. I also mentioned that I had never scraped the nose on my 2011 Cayman S over 13 years. I’ve now scraped the Macan three times in eight months. I finally figured out how to do it reliably (well, OK, why it...
  13. Trip to Telluride, Colorado

I didn’t see the Chargepoint in Socorro. With that charger you will be fine on that route.
  14. Turbo service and Macan 4 loaner

    I had the Etron SUV…
  15. Turbo service and Macan 4 loaner

At one point in my engineering career, I worked for Michelin. Not a revelation to most gear-heads, but most tire manufacturers spend a lot of money trying to balance design performance across many criteria. Noise is one of those criteria. That said, I have noticed that my Macan (with acoustic...
  16. Car struggles to run AC for cabin and battery

I live in AZ and have been pleased with the AC cooling. I did spec the back passenger window screens and the optional thermal glass. I also drive the car most often from home where it is garaged and so isn’t heat-soaked when I get in. I use window shades 100% of the time when parking outside.
  17. Trip to Telluride, Colorado

Here are a couple of thoughts to help possibly reduce charging anxiety. First, the distance from Las Cruces to ABQ is about 223 miles. It appears to be within the range of the Macan, depending on driving speed. To test this without risk, you could charge the car to 100%, and enter the...
  18. Turbo service and Macan 4 loaner

Somewhere (do not ask me to find it), I read an article online that stated 20 vs 21 vs 22 wheels don’t make a huge difference in how well the vehicle hugs the road in the curves (I guess, unless you’re a purist regularly at the track). 20’s also make acceleration numbers just a bit better due...
  19. Trip to Telluride, Colorado

Here are some thoughts after my first long trip in the Macan. Route: from Prescott, AZ to Telluride, Colorado, 472 miles. First 134 miles was on rural, mountain and high desert highways. Next 127 miles was on US interstate. Final 211 miles was again on mountain and high desert highways. I...
  20. First mini road trip with Macan ev turbo

Yes, we get that information too, for EA chargers. My first EV purchase a few years ago (Audi Etron) was out of state, and so my first ever EV drive and first roadtrip was 1,100 miles to get home. It went great. EA stations were available every 100 miles on the highway. No drama.
