Hi guys, I wanted to know if some of you like using the native gps . I connect android auto for Tidal and other radar detectors app but i would much rather use the native gps espacially since the Augmented really directions on the HUD stoped working for google maps. Also being able to see all the chargers crossing your path just in case .

I use it when I want battery % estimate @ destination for drive's I'm unfamiliar with…I like the real time and continuous updates as to expected battery % at arrival and also to pre-condition the battery when heading to a fast charging station…

Yes i also like it for those reasons and i find the Traffic manegement rather good at least in france. maybe not as accurate as Google map but it really tries to avoid traffic jams

yeah - I agree - for traffic in North America I find it mostly a wash between AppleMaps, GoogleMaps, Waze, PCM Navigaton…

traffic is as traffic was as traffic will do - I don't really care about the routing - my goal is basic awareness - I've never found any traffic aware navigation to actually save me any actual time - YMMV - my $0.02

I've been weaning myself off of Android Auto as I like the integrated look and feel of the PCM, use the departure feature regularly and appreciate the augmented directions in the HUD. Having said that, the search function using the PCM keyboard is way worse than AA. I get better results using the audio prompts in the PCM. I'd be ready to dump AA if i could figure out how to get messaging to work as well in the PCM as it does in AA.

There was one occasion where Waze saved me HOURS of time that I would otherwise have spent sitting in gridlocked traffic.

I was driving on the northbound I-15 from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. At one point Waze was telling me to get off at a random exit in the middle of nowhere and take a poorly maintained road that parallels I-15. I was confused but took the exit. After several miles I could see that the traffic on the interstate up ahead was completely stopped, and a few miles later I saw an accident involving an overturned big rig that was blocking the interstate. Later I learned through the news that the highway was shut down for eight hours.

There have been other cases where Waze saved me from long delays, but the I-15 incident was by far the most extreme.

After Android Auto broke HUD integration, I've switched to the built-in navigator, but the path planning is a lot worse.
It's more likely to lead me into traffic, and it typically picks a slower path if it's even a little bit shorter.
But it's also more likely to zig-zag me up and down grid blocks when there's some traffic on the main road, for a total time savings of ... no time saved.

I use the built in Nav when I use the Porsche ROADS app integration for suggested routes, scenic or otherwise. In my area there are several shared driver generated routes that are interesting for a Sunday drive.

Anyway I found it easy to use and I notice it is way better at indicating the actual car position in relation to turns/intersections than any phone based app. Perhaps because there is less latency. I don't miss any turns with it.

A buddy of mine uses waze and one day when I was riding with him it routed him out of the way and to a dead end at a farmers field. Apparently kids were having fun entering status and looking at the confusion it created. Cost about an hour of our time. I find the TomTom based Apple maps to be most effective, but it can reroute you on side roads that all the other APs route, clogging them. It is getting better but, as a long time cross country driver, these are tools and there is no substitute for situational awareness from multiple sources, including a handy CB radio and decent local AM station with traffic reports on the 5. :) Situational awareness is a lot of work, on pleasure drives I just use Apple or PCM maps and let the chips fall where they may.

Really interesting to have all your different opinions ! I don't mind not being able to send text messages via PCM really . But the one thing I wish was integrated would be Police radar detection like waze or Coyote ( i think coyote is only in europe) . I have a work around but i have to open 2 diffent app and Android auto. I wish we were able to launch automaticly my radar detector as soon as i get in my car . like it does with Tidal or Spotify

I reluctantly use the native nav part of the time on road trips in order to see the estimated arrival%, since Porsche failed to implement the AA feature that shows it. Otherwise I like AA nav much better.

Hi, I use the native one as its very good and includes the charging levels, but I have Waze on Car Play in the background as that then warns you about other traffic incidents and police etc.

If you use Apple Maps you do get all the turning prompts on the HUD too, just not as fancy

If only the native navigation had the crowdsourced police locations like Waze does. I like that feature too much.

It’s because of legislation in Germany prohibits the use of apps that tell of speed cameras etc.

Just jumping in regarding the broken AA HUD integration....does anyone know anything as to whether Porsche is working on it? I submitted the problem a couple of weeks ago, but haven't heard anything back.

Thank you!
