My plan to cut it out has failed. The #4 part is pretty much in the place everywhere. To get behind #4 probably means taking off the bumper.

Back to square 1 to try to pry out the tabs.

I’m laughing as I expected nothing less from Porsche. I am convinced they have a whole division of German engineers tasked to make a $100 part into $1000 and then design it in such a way so they can charge another $2000 to fit it (otherwise it would be a 5min job; I mean what’s wrong with bolts that sit inside a recess so they are protected from scraping; it’s not that you can see them under the car, probably only way to get it under 2.5t was to save on fasteners).
For VAG before 18/12/2025 Erwin allowed private users like myself to download repair manuals (for 10 euro you had 1 hour to download whatever you needed).
Not sure if there are repair manuals for Porsche accessible to mere mortals, the other option is to know someone who’s is in bed with your OPC.

I did it!

This time I pulled much harder than I did before as I was a lot more careful the first time. I got my gloves on and pulled it really hard and it came off.

Fitting the new one in was also much harder than I thought. There was a lot of pulling and pushing to make it fit right. It was a pain to align the tabs because it was a stretch fit. I had to take it off again because the middle tabs weren't latching properly, but after it came off once it was actually much easier to release the tabs, due to the slots loosening or a bit broken in.

so you didn't take the belly pan off to release them from the inside?

after taking apart the frunk to access the 12v battery leads, i'm convinced of this as well. They clearly engineered the car to be less serviceable for those part that will need to be serviced regularly. the 12v replacement is probably a 2-3 hour job. As much as I love the big brakes, it appears they changed the design of being able to slide the pads in the opposing piston calipers...and now it appears you must spend the time to remove the calipers from the carrier.... all seeming to make a lil more on labor/time

No, you can pull it out when pulled hard enough. If I had to do it again I can probably do it under an hour.
