Hi,
I read a thread about non coating here before but thread didn't come up on search function. Apologies to those who posted before.
It't the time of the year where rain is more frequent than usual here in UK. Whereas lack of rear wipe on highways is not a big deal really, rear visibility in the city can become challenging. So I started to nano coat both, rear window and front screen . I used Gtechniq Glass Coating Kit and it takes the better of 30 min each. Application is straight forward and easy to apply. Just make sure you clean the windows thoroughly as instructed.
Short to mid term results for rear window are good. Increased visibility, in particular light rain. Clear recommendation.
Windscreen. I have been warned by others here but applied anyway. Short term results were fair to good with very slight initial smear (2-3 seconds) but better overall visibility after every wiper action. Today it was raining more heavily and coating worked really well, indeed so well that the driver wiper (right in UK) on highest setting started to hit the A-pillar after 5 turns. I tried it a few times with identical results. Car is collected on Monday so don't really care but wanted to warn others.
I also ceramic coated (poor man's version not requiring full professional detailing) entire car. Water pearls off nicely but make sure car is not left outside after raining when temperature drops below zero degree. Due to hydrophobic effect you create really nice frozen water bubbles. The arctic effect looks quite cool though ;-).
