Adaptive cruise sometimes (rarely) doesn't detect slow moving traffic.

Hard for me to come up with the right search terms for this so I'm asking.

Usually the car will start slowing for slow traffic ahead way before getting uncomfortable. But over the past month I've noticed that occasionally the Macan approaches much slower vehicle traffic without slowing down. I step on the brake once it becomes uncomfortably close for me. There are no dash warnings, its like the radar is not detecting the vehicle ahead. The RADAR itself seems to be clean. Anyone notice this, Macan has latest software available in the US.

When it first happened a month ago I thought cockpit error, but it has happened twice since. When I resume after the braking, cruise functions as it should. I've been driving RADAR based adaptive cruise control for 15+ years and this behavior is new to me.

Perhaps coincidentally but I programmed the diamond button to show the front camera and parking assist screen. The button did nothing after one of these episodes.

I can’t say I have noticed that behavior but I don’t use it very often. I find it hugs the right line way more than I am comfortable with. I’m not sure if that is by design.

You can use adaptive cruise without lane keep. Lane keep was more centered after the SW update, but has slowly migrated to the right. I'll have to investigate if there is a reset, like perhaps swing the mirrors in/out.

But this is approach speed related.

I've had this quite a few times. For me it only seems to occur the first time of the day it needs to slow/stop after that it works correctly. I've tried to tough it out to see if it will spot its error but always give in and brake manually.

I too have had this issue at least once with a stopped vehicle in front. In a 2023 Audi Etron I used to own, I recall it was noted in the owner’s manual that this was a limitation of the cruise control. That made me aware that it also might be an issue for Porsche.
