Perhaps related, dunno. I've noticed a couple times that, after the update, when I enter the car the screens activate and ambient lighting turns on up as they should. If I then slam the door closed too hard, all screens go blank and ambient lights turn off, as if it doesn't detect a FOB inside...
You can use adaptive cruise without lane keep. Lane keep was more centered after the SW update, but has slowly migrated to the right. I'll have to investigate if there is a reset, like perhaps swing the mirrors in/out.
But this is approach speed related.
Hard for me to come up with the right search terms for this so I'm asking.
Usually the car will start slowing for slow traffic ahead way before getting uncomfortable. But over the past month I've noticed that occasionally the Macan approaches much slower vehicle traffic without slowing down. I...
Yeah, the vehicle controls the charging current up to the charger's limit.
I usually see in the neighborhood of 85Kw when the SoC is more than 60%.
The more recently installed/updated EA sites seem to have chargers with higher limits.
I don't think Geico has a good reputation for service now days, they may have had one at one time. I use Amica, it is less money in premiums but I package a bunch of policies. They contract with Safelite to manage all their glass claims but you don't have to use Safelite for the repair. They...
I have no problem closing the frunk, the SA showed me how to use my forearm to gently push down until the mechanism grabs the frunk and closes it. You need to be gentle with this lady and just let her do her thing. The forearm spreads the load so you don't need to be precise about where you are...
That should be specified in your policy fine print. Some insurance companies offer options, anywhere from full price/no deductible to self pay. Some stipulate use of their glass contractor.
You do know that more electrons are used driving up hill to create the potential energy (height) than are saved on the downhill.
Driving the 500 miles down to my parents house is always more fuel efficient than the way back, gas or electrons.
Everything is relative :)
How does that handle aggressive driving, will the magnets hold a big phone with its case through ~1G maneuvers or on bumpy sections of the road? I would think you'd want the phone physically restrained.
I sometimes have passengers that need a cable connection to charge their phone, and I don't...
LIDAR was added to most RADAR systems years ago simply to reduce false collision positives. The Mercedes based system of 15 years ago used to warn me that a tree was about to jump out in front of me, after they added a camera, not so much. Not a big deal until they added automatic braking. Lost...
Radar systems are pretty reliable, camera (LIDAR) not so much but are cheaper. Manufactures are trying to use software to analyze video to do things like collision avoidance and adaptive cruise but have not been that effective. Simple things like sun shining into a camera (driving into a sunset...
Yes, you are buying electricity by the kWatt.
In round numbers for example, the Macan has a 100 kW battery, more or less. To increase SOC 20% it needs 20 kWatts.
In the US market Macan will draw ~9 kWh AC from a L2 charger at any % SOC because that is the limit of the US on board AC battery...
The EVSE cannot manage the power (current). The EVSE tells the car how much power (current) is available. The car uses what it wants. The EVSE will act like a circuit breaker and cut power when a car draws too much current,
For one, my BMW based Mini EV has no way to limit charge % to 80% by either the car GUI or App. Some owners have complained for years. I would think some others in the BMW product line would be the same. You can set timers and departures but not charge %.
I know the specs and engineering...
How much is the degradation over 10 10,000 mile years?
There are some recent EVs where you can't limit charging to 80% using the car GUI (or app). These cars, have to be limited from the EVSE or via clever scheduling. The school of thought there is that 80% is much to do about nothing to the...
My 2011 Mercedes based Jeep had metallic paint which didn't seem to affect the RADARs. They seemed to be flawless. Loved the heaters they put in the front to melt off ice and snow.
Perhaps Porsche puts more metal in their paint. The ice gray changes shades with light, so there may be some...
I hear the new software is more conservative with estimates. I didn't notice any real world range change, but I think the updates resets/clears some historical data, so the estimate may also be based less and different historical data.data.
Dunno, but how far above sea level are you?
The gauge is indicating tire pressure relative to the atmosphere where the TPMS sensor does not have an atmospheric reference so it indicates internal tire pressure. The difference will depend on atmospheric pressure which varies with weather and...
Just want to mention that the current isn't constant, just the voltage.
Watts is voltage times current. Since the voltage is constant in either case, as the kW charge indicated drops, the current drops. In other words the current isn't a constant 40-50 amps. It will drop as the power...
