In deciding between Papaya and Gentian too - had blues before with my BMWs (Estoril Blue II, Tanzanite Blue).
Gentian seems to take on a purple hue at times which I like, but it’s still blue! Papaya, well that’s something different and at the end of the day, it will be on a 24 or 30 month lease.
Horses for courses, I used to use it for all journeys, long and short.
it was better in Europe, for sure plus the benefit of clearer indication of junctions and exits/turn-offs was a godsend.
Regardless, we really want Porsche to do a decent CarPlay integration!
As mentioned, it’s not so good in the UK for motorway diversion and road closures in suburban areas.
Similarly, it picks the same route from A to B, regardless of time of day and underlying traffic conditions.
If it works for you, great. I’ll stick with Waze or Google Maps
Agree, junction and...
I’ve tried it and only recently switched away - doesn’t pick up traffic jams/delays/diversions.
Agree it’s great for walking but fk all use while driving.
BMW is just Drive Recorder, so while it's always monitoring, it's not aways recording - it only stores 20 secs before and 20 seconds after an incident.
Never had to use it myself, so can't speak to how good it actually is.
If only Apple Maps was any good - on my current BMW BEV, I use Waze or Google Maps (foregoing the HUD visibility) for far greater accuracy (in the UK anyway).
I sent my wife the different colour threads from this site (except the grey ones as she hates grey) and she picked Papaya and Gentian as her favourites.
I like a bit of Ice Grey but I must say the Papaya (on the current shape Macan) does look good.
I'll order mine Q1 2025 for Q1 2026 delivery, but waiting for salary sacrifice pricing, as normal PCP will be eye-watering (well, from the quotes I have been sent as representative, it is eye-watering).
