Considering that they sit identically to the stock 22s but have more clearance suspension-side due to being narrower, I wouldn't expect any problems as far as brake/suspension clearance or rubbing of fenders (otherwise the stock 22s would have issues).
Any swap of any kind is going to have some...
The sizing you got looks like it will sit about identical to the stock 22s fender-side and being 1" narrower all of that extra space is on the suspension side. This might be where the idea to move your selection came from, some calculator assumed 22s.
22 x 9 ET29 vs 20x8 ET16 = identical...
I think the excitement is that there are rumors this is the same software the MY26 have. Or otherwise "massive sweeping update".
I say rumors because the only sources are word of mouth from dealers to forum members, and random blog posts like this claiming the MY2025 will get the features...
It actually annoys me a bit that it stays lifted after I pull into the garage, and is still lifted when I come back in the morning. It’s a minor thing but I would like the option for the car to lower completely on hitting park. Instead I just flip it off sport plus and back, but I have to...
It seems possible that sometimes these sudden changes are actually just recalibrations of estimated capacity and not actual changes or loss of energy from the battery. It’s rare but occasionally people report the percent actually going up, or even just general confusing variances to percent and...
Didn’t even think of that. I don’t know why the profile has me pegged as Japan flag, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to change it.
this was actually the inspiration
Thats a good callout. It would be a pretty big mistake on the wheel manufacturer side though since I can’t actually find a tire with a load index that low (101), meaning the wheel would be designed to be weaker than the weakest tires. Usually you’re in the 16-18” tire range to get an index that low.
I don’t have schematics of course, but I would suspect even the Teslas and MB power the conditioning through the HVDC system and battery sourced. The difference is likely just in when they start backing the HVDC with the AC wall connector - immediately vs when the battery depletion is...
Not to derail the tangent… but
Altitude factors in as well. At my altitude the atmospheric drag is 13.8% lower than at sea level, resulting in slightly higher efficiency. At speed roughly 2/3 of vehicle efficiency is based on drag (the rest being drivetrain, rolling resistance, heating...
True, however you can’t even spec a turbo exactly like a GTS, or vice versa. You can get them close but you’d have to get PTS on the turbo for example.
Perhaps you pay more for the styling and color options with the GTS, whereas with the turbo you get a bit more performance. So the model lineup is more of a branch than a straight line where turbo is at the top, there are things the GTS has that the turbo can’t and vice versa.
Doesn’t it also depend on the offer they give to buy the car? The math above would apply to someone owning the car outright (payoff quote), and then you’d presumably sell it or trade it and get something back. This is probably the biggest loss variable and why a lease trade where you can just...
I can let you know how the Thule fare. I test fit them a few weeks ago but haven’t put them on for the season.
I’ve had racks on maybe five different cars now, they’re never silent but sometimes you get lucky. Or you can move them a bit and they get better. Once I moved the same rack to another...
It is pretty comparable to the iX in terms of battery size. Haven’t watched the video but if this is a real test to empty it’s pretty good. It isn’t hard to get an iX50 with aero wheels to report 330-350 miles range in day to day but another thing to actually get it at freeway speed.
No. You lose more than 1% diameter just driving and wearing out your OEM tires, and often front and rear at a different rate. They must be able to handle variation within a reasonable amount. The OEM tires themselves come in minor variations of width and diameter as well.
You can double check these but this combo looks to work and is within 1% of the original size. These are all XL, T or R should work and probably exceeds the OEM spec.
Front: 255/50 R20
Rear: 275/45 R20
That must be nice, I’ve been to three or four local tire shops over the years, always wait and never get out in under an hour. Usually more like 90 minutes, for some reason they are always legitimately busy.
I’ve taken to just doing the swap myself at home.
Issues with unit tests are not uncommon, and in fact you very often find unit tests where the test writer made a bunch of assumptions. Then someone comes along with a different implementation of the interface, or passing different values to a method, code which works perfectly fine, and find out...
